    3. >From the Michigan Pioneer and Historical Collections, Vol. 18 1891 Washtenaw County Mary Elizabeth COOLEY, wife of Judge Thomas M. COOLEY, died at her home in Ann Arbor at 2 o'clock on Sunday morning, August 31, 1890. Mrs. COOLEY was born at Alexander, New York, June 18, 1830. Her father, David HORTON, removed with is family to Michigan in 1837, settling at Adrian. She was the oldest child and was given such an academic education as was then obtainable in Michigan. On December 30, 1846, she was married to Thomas M. COOLEY, then just about to begin the practice of law at Tecumseh. She was, as will be seen, very young at the time, but all young people matured earlier in the pioneer state, and she especially did so, that there was no seeming impropriety in so early a marriage. Mr. COOLEY did not remain long in Tecumseh but returned to Adrian, where he became the partner of Mr. BEAMAN, who for ten years was a member of congress from that district.
