I am looking for information on John Schleh, b., Herzogsweiler Germany. May 10 1824. He married Katharine Wolf in Ann Arbor Dec.5 1882 Daughter Anna ,b.,abt.1883.She was about 6 yrs. old when she was killed by a firearm accident. Have no other info: then that. Is there somewhere I could write or someone who would look up an old newspaper. Usually those things appeared in the paper. My father (Annas brother ) was born 1891 or 1893 name Jonathan. Thanks, Amy
Hi Paulette The young Theodore Christopher Bruegel and George Mogk are in our family. Eugene, died age 1, is a new name to me. Does your list indicate that these folks are in the same family plot, or nearby each other? I would htink that they are related. For sure T Bruegel and G Mogk are related....... I am most appreciative of the information. shall contact the cemetery for more information. ginny ----- Original Message ----- From: "PAULETTE D QUARTERMAIN" <soozieq7@sbcglobal.net> To: <MIWASHTE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 14, 2003 2:59 PM Subject: Re: [MIWASHTE] cemeteries of Ann Arbor > > In a book I have of cemetery transcriptions, it lists a Theo. I was at Maple Grove Cemetery yesterday looking for, and taking photos of the graves of my family. I found most of my family who was supposed to be burried there except my gggrandparents Flora (West) Fisk (1873-1939/40) and Orrin Fisk (1869-1940). I found the transcribed records on the genweb site and tried to retrace the order of names burried there, but could not find them. I was wondering if anyone know anything about thier burial (did they have a stone, could the stone have been damaged, etc.?). Is there any way to contact the people who maintain the records of this cemetery? Also if they don't have a headstone, how easy is it to put one in for them? RE naturalization records. The State Archives in Lansing has all of the Circuit Court of Washtenaw nat records. They also have a nice index prepared by volunteers. They will answer a request that comes thru e-mail. It is put in the que along with letters. Nancy
Where/from what agency in Ann Arbor would one obtain naturalization papers from 1865? ginny
Several of you were so very kind to take the time to help me in my search for information on a young boy, Theodore Christopher Bruegel, who died in 1869. His info is posted on the GENDIS site..... thanks to all of you who came forward with your assistance. So, information from the GENDIS site stops in about 1897. How does one go about getting information on a death in about 1910-1920? is there a site on line with this info? I have no specific information to provide, but have pieced together the information and am making a "guesstimate" based on a compilation of the few facts I do have. Albert Theodore Bruegel age 70 and his wife Elizabeth nee Mogk Bruegel age 67, are alive and living in Ann Arbor on the 1910 census. In 1920 he is probably a widower. (Per census records 1930, for sure he is a widower age 90, living with his daughter Marie and her husband, David Maher in Wastonville, Santa Cruz County, California). From this, we can guess that Elizabeth died after April 1910 when the census was taken, and possibly 1920 when the next one was taken. It is also possible that she may have died between 1920 census and 1930 census. So far as I can ascertain, there is no record of her death in California, so she must have died in Michigan. Could someone please point me in the right direction for information on her death?? appreciatively ginny

Take a look at GENDIS at: http://www.mdch.state.mi.us/pha/osr/gendisx/index.htm You can write to Washtenaw County for a copy of the death certificate (ledger page 285, record 1), but it's unlikely to contain any more info than given here. For the death announcement, you'd need somebody to check the local papers, which can probably be done in the Ann Arbor public library. I live in Washington state myself, and on occasion I've been able to order microfilms of Michigan papers through inter-library loan, and find death announcements on my own.
