Marilyn, Here are two URL's that will help you plan your research trip in July Genealogical Society of Washtenaw County http://www.hvcn.org/info/gswc/ Bentley Historical Collection http://www.umich.edu/~bhl/ The GSWC library is co-located with the FHL in Ann Arbor. We will be moving to Saline in July as has already been mentioned. You might want to make arrangements to meet with one of our members who can show you the library and discuss your research with you. Our research committee meets at the library every Monday from 10-2, so that would be a good time. Good luck, Jan Tripp Ann Arbor, MI -----Original Message----- From: Jim & Marilyn Talbot [mailto:talbotvmk@earthlink.net] Sent: Monday, April 26, 2004 9:29 PM To: MIWASHTE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MIWASHTE] library I would like to find out what library in Washtenaw County has the largest genealogy collection. No U of M id is needed for the Bentley... However photo id of some kind is. The Family History Center will move out to Saline when the Ann Arbor Stake Center is finished in July. Good luck, Jennifer
When I was at the LDS yesterday I heard them talking about a move to Saline, which may be taking place in late June or early July? So this should definitely be checked out. Their hours are fairly limited, even more so than the Bentley, which is open every weekday. Hours are given on the LDS site. I think, by the way, that the Bentley is open to the public -- you have to sign in, but I wasn't asked to show a library card or affiiliation with the U of M (Marilyn, the Bentley is one of the University of Michigan's libraries, specializing in local and Michigan history.) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brett A Majeske" <pixifer@juno.com> To: <MIWASHTE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 26, 2004 10:09 PM Subject: Re: [MIWASHTE] library > Marilyn, > The Local Family History Library on Hill Street. > And the Bentley unfortunately it's not open to the public > except at specific times? > Though the main branch in down town is interesting for local > color and relatively recent research. > Jennifer >
Marilyn, The Local Family History Library on Hill Street. And the Bentley unfortunately it's not open to the public except at specific times? Though the main branch in down town is interesting for local color and relatively recent research. Jennifer

Hello All: I am interested in corresponding with anyone who knows anything about descendants of Richard Webb, born at Stonerton, Warwickshire, England, pioneered in Dexter TS near North Lake, bur North Lake Cemetery, probably members of the M.E.Church at North Lake on Glenn land. M1 Ann Marshall of Glasgow, Scotland, M2 Jennette Marshall of Unadilla. Ch. Walter, Anna (Stevenson), Richard, Maggie (Hyde), Elizabeth Ann (Benton), Jennie (Glenn), Janette (Pratt), Lucy (Sweeney), George. Five of his children pioneered in N. Dakota. Some talk of Richard and Ann being in Livingston Co, MI, but I don't know at what period. I am a descendant via Elizabeth Ann Webb Benton, have some letters and photographs related to the family. Hello everyone - First, I want to thank all of you who have so incredibly helped me in my Washtenaw Co. relatives search - what a great group - you have been kind, quick, and very thorough and I so appreciate you. I am curious about the following woman: Patricia Mayer, widow of Walter E. Miller. She died on 3/13/1999 in Saline, Washtenaw Co., MI., and was born on 1/18/1931. Was curious if anyone had access to this obit, which I would assume would be in the Ann Arbor News around March 13 or 14th, 1999. Any help would be so appreciated - thanks again!! Debbie Miller Holth

Does anyone know of a company named the Merritt Corporation, located possibly in Washtenaw Co., in the 1960s? I have looked in the White Pages and on the net and cannot find any info whatsoever on this. Would appreciate any guidance. Thanks again!! Debbie
please. Hello one and all - I think I finally got the dates correct here, but with the computer troubles we have had, if I asked this before, I apologize - I just cannot find it. My great-aunt, Zella Morrell Miller, died in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Co., on November 22 or 23, 1964. I know the month and year are correct, but I am not absolutely positive on the day - however, I am pretty sure. Could someone please check this out for me? She is buried at Washtenong Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Ann Arbor, buried with her husband, Walter Miller, d. 1963, and son, Walter E. Miller, d. 1969. I would greatly appreciate an obituary regarding her death, if possible. Thanks very much!! Debbie

Hello All: One Henry Benton shows up in the will of Eli Benton of Lodi (1889) but in this context: "... bequeath the same to all my grandchildren and Henry Benton to be divided equally between them." This infers Henry was a kinsman of Eli, but not a grandchild. Henry's photograph also shows up in the album (c 1775) of Emily Benton Hill, Eli's daughter wife m. Comstock Fitch Hill of Lodi and AA. Henry Benton of Lodi also appears on the lists of Co H, 20th MI Vol Inf in the Civil War. That company was headed by Wendell D. Wiltsie, who had married another of Eli Benton's daughters. Since this Henry is listed as 18 years of age, he would have been born c. 1844, which approximately matches the photograph in EBH's album mentioned above. I rather suspect that Henry was a fostered or adopted child of Eli Benton, perhaps (tho' unlikely) the youngest of Eli's bro. Melanchton Benton of Otisco (nr. Battle Creek). Any knowledge out there? Yours, Jim Smith Benton
This is a message for Ernestine Wark: My registration on the Washtenaw County group was to find more info on my great-grandfater Zina David Buck. I am enjoying reading the various search requests that are showing up in this forum. However, I am very interested in the family connection that Ernestine Wark presents: My maternal grandfather was ERNEST JEFFERY WARK. Born in Sherbrooke, P.Q. and settled in Detroit around 1911. He had brothers Cecil and Truman as well as sister Rhoda. A nephew, David, settled in West Virginia with his wife and five daughters. Ernestine, please feel free to communicate to me any connection your Wark family may have with the above information; I would be pleased to hear from you.
