Thanks to all those who have responded to my plea, both via the list and individually. The suggestions offered for research, especially about the state library, are most welcome. I think the library is the place to start, as this Wood family was in at least these Michigan counties: Washtenaw, Wayne, Ionia and Mecosta, and that's just my husband's Wood branch. My own family has roots in Menominee and VanBuren counties. All our grandparents ended up in Chicago, where we are now. Lois Mack Schill

There is the FREE 1870 MI Census online and you can view the original page & print it out. I found a Wallace Wood, age 34, white, married, a blacksmith, with a wife Mary, age 19?, with a one year old son "Orla" in Olivet, Eaton Co., MI. Rebecca Wood is in Kent County in 1870. I am researching the Collins Family who came to Washtenaw Co. in the early 1830's I need to find Josiah and Mary (Brown) Collins children. The story I heard they befriended a stranger who had small pox and their family caught the disease and they lost most or all there children. The mother was marked by the disease but lived. I would like to find the childrens names and dates. I have several but need more. I would appreciate hearing from any one who is researching this family. Thank you in advance. I am looking for any information concerning the BOWERMAN family that lived in Ypsilanti, MI from about 1870 to 1930 or later. I found Frank and Fannie, Hazel, Helen and Marian in 1910-1930 census. My cousin has a photograph of this family. We are trying to figure out how this family is connected to our great, great grandmother Betsy Bowerman Bligh (Mrs. David Bligh). I found David and Elizabeth Bowerman in Ypsilanti in 1870 and 1880 with their children, Frank R and Charles P. In 1860 David is listed with David and Betsy Bligh in Sadsbury, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. If anyone has any information on this family I would appreciate your help in putting this puzzle together. Thanks Betty Stark jbstark1950@aol.com
I found approx. 30 or more ancestors by using this link below. I just went through each one that was registered on line, some are not. I found them and went and visited the cemetery, since it wasn't that far away. To my amazement, there were SEVERAL of my McLARENS in the same cemetery that I have been visiting since I was a young child along with my parents, (my grandparents and gr-grandparents) which I did not know were there until I started searching my roots. I also, found other ancestors in nearby cemeteries that I had no idea they were there. This is Washtenaw County listings. If you know they were buried in Washtenaw county, this is a good link. I hope you find what you are looking for. If I can be of any help, please let me know. I am pretty familiar with Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea, MI.
