Hi, Karen-- I was interested in your info (and this is stretching it a LOT), but I had an uncle Hugh Mitchell, and I was thinking perhaps it may have been a family name. He was the son of John Mitchell, b. AR, who was the son of Elijah Mitchell, b. ca. 1836, TN--county unknown. Elijah married Mary Jane Dickerson, also of TN, and they migrated to AR, and John later went to MO. I have no further info on the earlier part of the family, except that Elijah had a brother James, who also went to AR. I would love to know who the parents of Elijah and James were. I think I will start researching Green Co., which you mention, and also Hardin, which someone else mentioned. If any of this sounds familiar, I would appreciate knowing. As to the Irish origin, my mother always said they were Scot-Irish. I have not gotten back far enough to verify that, but would surely like to. Thanks. Barbra
