Married William (Billy) Mitchell, born Oct. 10, 1832, VA. They lived in the Fish River District in Dobson, Surry County, NC, & had two sons: Alexander & Millard Mitchell. Jane died Nov. 30, 1857; buried in Dobson Cemetery, Surry Co. After her death, Billy married Frances Cave & had nine children. Billy died Dec. 13, 1889; buried beside Sally Jane Burge Mitchell. I also found the will of William Burge, written Mar. 3, 1959; recorded in Spring, 1865, Surry Co., NC, WB 5, Page 74. He left Alexander Mitchell $200; Millard Mitchell, $200; & William H. Mitchell the rest of his property "for caring for me a comfortable maintenance for life." Executors were Drury Hodges & Nicholas (looks like Tuman; I couldn't read the last name). In the 1850 Surry Co., NC, census, there was a William Burge listed as age 53 (BA 1797, NC); along with Nancy Burge, 57 (BA 1793, VA); Sarah (I. or J.) Burge, 18 (BA 1832, NC); & William Slate Burge, age 11 (BA 1839, NC). Sounds like the same William Burge as above. Any help with the Burges or Mitchells will be appreciated.
