Dear Conni, Probate records are always interesting. They tend to verify those closely related when someone passes. I also found that marriage records, in some states, give lots of good tidbits. Perhaps that far back, church records might help. And, of course Revolutionary War records could illuminate some information for you. The Library of Virginia has a lot of land grant/sale information you can access online. Good luck!, fellow Virginia/Mitchell searchers! We can place the family in Rockingham County, VA during the Revolutionary War. Does anyone have any suggestions for the types of records she should look for to determine our ancestor's parents? I have suggested she search tax records but what else might provide clues? Many thanks.
