Hi Everyone, I hope someone out there can help me me with I hope not to strange a question.My late 1700 early 1800 Mitchell's could not read or write, they always signed with an X. My question, what Is the "Seal Mark Stamp" that was used, behind where someone signed there names? Was this common practice for the time? My Mitchell's were in Johnston County, NC in the late 1700's and stayed until there deaths. Before then (?) Anyone lost a George Mitchell born abt 1762 died 1837 NC. Thank You, for helping Kathryn
