I'm not saying that all people from a certain region are related. I'm saying that even though someone has a certain surname, it doesn't necessarily mean that his/her ancestors came from a certain area. In the case I cited, Sasha Mitchell would more than likely not find any matches in Scotland or Ireland. He could be expected to find matches in Russia, however. That means that even though you can't establish nationality you can establish region. There are other cases I've read of. There are Mitchel/Mitchell families with roots in France. I don't know if those are originally from the England, Ireland Scotland area or if they are French in nature and have Anglicized the name from a French name.
