You need to be a Mitchell male since testing is done from the y chromosome. A simple cheek swab provides the dna. The cost to test 12 markers is $99 or 25 markers is $159. We have all started with 12 markers, then if there is a match at 12 we are planning to upgrade to 25 for a more precise check. If you upgrade later the cost of the upgrade is $90 so it pays to do all at once. We have one match with the Henry MItchell descendant whose ancestor was born in Mecklenberg Co Va and fought in the Revolution. My brother tested 10/12 with them and I suspect a Granville Co. connection. I'm hoping 25 markers and more Granville Co. descendants will answer the question for me. We also have 3 who matched 12/12 with each other, one of whom is descended from Nimrod Mitchell who was married in Granville Co. So--several possibilities in our group who have already been tested.
