    3. Those of you who are interested in Mitchells who came from NC, but eventually ended up in Texas may want to look for a book titled, "OUTLAW, The Story of a Texas Manhunt" by C.L. Sonnichsen and published by Ballentine Books. It is a very interesting and well written book. The patriarch of this Mitchell clan was Nelson A. "Cooney" Mitchell born Nov. 16, 1796 in Granville Co., NC. In 1836 he moved to Fayette Co., TN where his wife died and he married again to a part Cherokee woman. In 1848 they moved to Ouachita Co., Ar. In 1856 they moved near Palestine in eastern Texas, then to Erath Co. and then to Hood County. They had 7 children. Girls: Lou, Annette "Net", Georgiana (m;Wm Owens and lived near Morgan Mill, TX) and Armenta (m.John Johnson and lived first at Huckabay then at Morgan Mill.) Boys: Bill (m. Mary Jane (Becket) Holiday and fathered Belle and Maude), Jeff (d. Oct 7, 1875) and Dan who lived in Erath Co,, Texas.

    3. Virginia: I have just recently joined the Mitchell web site because I am trying to trace our Grubb ancestors from NC and VA, namely William Grubb b. 1804 in Ashe Co., who married Rosamond West b. Washington Co. Their first son was named Mitchell Wade Grubb, and I have not been able to find a "Mitchell Wade" Grubb previously to William. But the name Mitchell Wade has carried down thru their descedancy, despite the fact that the above mentioned William Wade Grubb was actually killed in the Civil War. I was wondering if you may have any info or light on the connection between the Mitchells and the Grubbs. Any help would be appreciated. Have a wonderful day filled with all of God's blessings.
