Hello, list. I have a brick wall concerning my great, great, great grandfather, John Henry Mitchell. I have found a record of him being born in Petersburg, VA in 1745, and a sure record of his death in Oglethorpe Co., GA in 1806. I know he lived in Dinwiddie Co., VA in 1893, since his son, Thomas Hardaway Mitchell, was born there at that time. I have a family member's story that he married Mary Zeigler, whose mother was a Zimmerman, and who lived in Rockingham Co, N.C. until her marriage. I can't link up the dots as to who were his mother andf father, what other children (other than Thomas Hardaway) he may have had, and I can't even prove he mnarried Mary Zeigler. If he did, I don't have anything on her ancestry. Several people have tried to help me, giving the history of some Henry Mitchells and some John Mitchells. Unfortunately, these were not my John Henry. Since the Dinwiddie courthouse burned in the War of 1812, facts are hard to come by. If anyobe out there can help me, i would greatly appreciate it.
