To Mitchell researchers: Two daughters of Samuel and Martha-Jefferson Bell Walker married MITCHELL men in Edgefield SC in the early 1800s. Rachel Walker married HINCHEY MITCHELL (as per Edgefield Equity 136 and deeds of the time), and Martha Walker married STARLING MITCHELL. These two MITCHELL men are found witnessing deeds for EDWARD MITCHELL, who lived near the Walkers, but the connections haven't been established as far as I know. Starling Mitchell, wife, and six children are found on the 1820 Census of Population for Edgefield. Later a younger Starling Mitchell was named as a nephew in Samuel Walker jr's will in Madison Co, Alabama. Would very much like to correspond with others working on these MITCHELLS. A group of Walker researchers has been working on the family, but we have very little information about the MITCHELLS. I have put the information we have on Martha and Starling Mitchell below. Edgefield Equity Case 136 names a daughter and husband of Samuel Walker as "Martha and Starling Mitchell." Edgefield Deed Book 30, page 196: Justice Isaac Kirkland certified the relinquishment of dower rights by Martha Mitchell wife of Sterling Mitchell. 15 February 1810. Edgefield Deed Book 38, p. 195. Two of Samuel, Jr's sisters married Mitchells: Rachel married Hinchey Mitchell and her children are listed in this file. Martha married Starling Mitchell.
