    3. I also have Mitchell family in Texas that I can't find out about, my great-grandfather was Joseph A. Mitchell b June 1862, m to Mary "Minnie" Smith b July 1871 m on January 24, 1889--they married in Hopkins County, believe they lived in Sulphur Springs, TX. My grandmothers name was Lester M. Mitchell, she married Walter Asberry Nalls in Hopkins County, TX--also believe Sulphur Springs. Their wedding License has my grandfathers name as B.M. Nalls, they were married Nov. 19, 1908. These are the children per the Hopkins County 1900 Census, Lester M. Mitchell (daughter) b May 1890, Birdie A. Mitchell (daughter) b Feb. 1892, Edna J. Mitchell (daughter) b Feb. 1894, Henry C. Mitchell (son-believe called Collier) b Apr. 1896, and Joseph E. Mitchell (son-believe he was called Pete) b Dec. 1898. There may have been more children, these are all I have, does anyone connect with this family. From what I have been told the boys moved to Oklahoma, I am only guessing that they were called nicknames, because those are the names my Dad knew. I have one paper on my Grandfather, Joseph Samuel Mitchell, that says his father's name was James Madision, born in Tenn and his mother's name was Millie Owen, born in AL. However, I believe they both died in Texas somewhere around Fannin County, TX. > Jim Armstrong > > Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. > Checked by Symantec-Norton Anti-Virus system > ----- Original Message ----- > From: MadJJRose@aol.com > To: MITCHELL-L@rootsweb.com > Sent: Thursday, September 05, 2002 11:10 PM > Subject: Re: [MITCHELL] More on TN & TX Mitchell's > > > Jim, > > Can you tell me if James had a brother named Levi? 3. Ernest, You seem to have the same dilemma that I have. Interesting note, my Grandfather also moved to Oklahoma, I think they initially arrived in and around Durant, OK, possibly near or in Silo, OK. My Grandfather was sometimes called just "J.S. Mitchell" and also sometimes called "Pearl Mitchell" (for what reason I have no clue). My Grandfather's siblings were George, Mertle, Eunie, & Inie, I believe George was a half-brother. George remained in Texas and is buried, I think, in vicinity of Paris or Bonham, TX. The rest of the siblings and my Grandfather are buried in various parts of Oklahoma, mainly in Oklahoma & Pontotoc Counties. Good luck in your search!
