Iowa 1870 Served War 1812 first as a substitute. At 16 joined for himself. 12th Va US. John m. Tabitha Elizabeth {Elizabeth Tabitha] Smith. 1825 TN. b. ? died in Sullivan County, MO. Children as listed on the application for Tabitha's Pension. 1870 1. John Mitchell {43 in 1870] [ b. @ 1827 where? died ? Iowa/ Missouri. 2. William W. Mitchell {40 IN 1870][b. @ 1830 where? died ? Iowa/ Missouri. 3. Sally A. Mitchell {37 IN 1870][b. @1833 where? died ? married in Jefferson, County, Iowa, to John Trent. 4. Matilda Jane b. 1843 Indiana died Christian County, MO. 1889 married Jacob Rider Smith 1865. IA. Later they moved to MO. They are my great-grandparents. I have no more information on John and Tabitha and their three older children. I would appreciate any information or advice of where to look in Virginia where John lived and Tennessee where they got married. Indiana where my grandmother, Matilda was born 1843.
