Gordon; The 1782 Hd/Fam is a book on the Heads of Families which serves as a substitite for the missing early census. It is really an extract of the first PPTL. I've extracted PPTL from a number of VA counties, but not from Amelia yet. John should be on those lists from 1782 (when they stated) until about 1811 or so when they left Amelia Co. The birth in England does come from the DAR papers (which I could mail you, or scan, if I can get my scanner back up), but I don't know where the DAR applicant got the info. Can you accept a Word attachment? I could send the records I have... I'd like to trace the DEATONs for several generations, and, like you, I collect records/references. All of these DEATONs are just as much my cousins as are the MITCHELLs. I can accept attachments, if you can send them to jimbartlett@mindspring.com.
