    2. Gosh, Mary Jean, you know SO much about your Mitchells, I wish that THESE were the ones where Mitchells came into my family..but I think you would have seen Garrisons mixed in there with all the information you have gathered. I just recently started looking for the Mitchell branch so I sure don't know enough to correct you, if you WERE wrong...which I'm betting you aren't. You seem very thorough. When I very first started looking at the LDS history center, the lady was showing me how to go through some things and I tried to stop at a Mitchell/Garrison site and she just deleted it and said it was way too early in my search to start veerin off. In general, she probably is right, but since I had names back to my ggg grandfather already, I figured check out things when they present themselves. Since Mitchell isn't a name the Garrisons used prior to Edmund born 1785 I think there is a possibility it was his mother's name..but it could have been his wife's..since we don't know either woman's name. His wife was a Louisa..and that is all we know of her. But I find that business of your Elizabeth very intriguing. I bet you're right and if she helped slaves, that is why her lands were taken away. Sorry business! I have a friend who is a McDannel....he was our friend from 30 years ago when we were in So. Cal. for my husband to go to school. We have kept in touch with cards and not much else..but we were good friends once upon a time..anyway, I recently found out that he is related to me through his McDannels marrying into my Brittains/Brittons! He said originally his line was MacDonald ...another cousin gave me the story of the MacDonald massacre by the Campbells on the king's order. So perhaps they changed to McDaniel/McDannel at that time..his seems to be spelled both ways in the early days here. Just thought I'd toss that in..the Scot stories interest me...I have McBrides..one article I read said they were started by someone from the MacDonald clan. But I haven't gotten to them to do a thorough search. Anyway I find all this about your Mitchells very interesting...please keep your eyes open for a Garrison connection when you are researching. Probably Paul or Edmund. Thanks, Mary Jean..have a good trip! We are hoping to get away for a few days here too. Marti
