Gordon; BINGO!!! Elizabeth P MITCHELL and Sarah MITCHELL were both daughters of John MITCHELL and Obedience VAUGHAN, who were married 1786 Amelia Co, VA. John was born c1763 in England and immigrated to America in time to serve in the RevWar. I believe Obedience was the daughter of James VAUGHN and Mary JETER. About 1810 John and Obediance and their children went to Botetourt Co, VA; and John died in Montgomery Co, VA in 1840. Elizabeth and Sarah's brother Thomas MITCHELL b1791 Amelia Co m 1817 Botetourt Co Margaret SNIDER (daughter of Henry SNIDER and Susannah BRITZ). Thomas and "Peggy" are my ancestors. I would love to know more about the descendants of the DEATON brothers. MITCHELL (abt 1789 - aft 1850) - Lived in Botetourt Co. at least in 1810 and 1820; by 1830 they were in Montgomery Co., VA, then on to TN. - Levi's mother Martha C. moved from Amelia Co., VA to Botetourt Co. after his father Levi died in 1799; Martha C. was in Botetourt Co. by 1810, and died there in 1822. - Decendants of Levi & Elizabeth went first to Morgan Co., IL and also to MO. One of Levi's brothers, Nathan, married Sally MITCHELL (d/o John MITCHELL) in 1819 in Botetourt Co., VA. Just a guess that Elizabeth and Sally may be sisters, but I don't know for sure since I don't know Elizabeth's father. Jim, thanks for the reply. I had seen this family recently, but I hadn't dug in yet.. I assume Sarah is Sally? The Jeter name doesn't seem to be common, but shows up elsewhere in this family. Henry Jeter marries (1834, Montgomery Co., VA) Martha Ann Deaton, a daughter of Levi Deaton & Elizabeth P. Mitchell. Henry also witnesses the 1839 marriage consent (Montgomery Co.) for Eliza P. Deaton, another daughter, to marry Japhanis Gray. I have Levi Deaton partially traced forward at: <http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=g314spears&id=I1714> I correspond with a descendant of Nathan Deaton, but I haven't worked on that line myself I'd really appreciate any clues on what sources are out there for this Mitchell family.
