Juanita, No, this isn't my line at all. My Mitchell lines are actually my daughter and sons and they are at a dead end in MO, for now. It's just that when I am not finding anything within all my lines. At a deadend if you will, I enjoy helping others with whatever I might find on someone elses lines. I offer this info and it's up to them to prove. (This seems to be an outlet for me, plus it's always nice when I do help someone out!) Happy hunting! If you look down on this message, I am Marlene, but that is fine. Your kid's Mitchell in MO interests me. Joab had a son, Samuel Mitchell. Samuel by his first wife had a daughter, Sophia, that married a Jesse Tiner in MO in 1843. I "assume" she must have been visiting a relative (Mitchell?) as she did not live there. Which family member was there during that time frame? She had been married first to a Hancock and then a Moore. This is helping someone else, also. I am descended from Samuel Mitchell and his second wife, Delilah Love. His first wife was Molly Folsom and they had two daughters, Alzira and Sophia. For years it was an "accepted fact" that Sophia m. "a" Tiver. Since there were no Tivers in the area, I started on the "assumption" that the name had been transcribed incorrectly. As soon as I put that on the Internet, everything started falling into place and now it is a "proven" fact that she married a "Tiner". The fact that she had two other marriages was an added bonus. Her mother was Molly Folsom (Choctaw Indian) and died when or shortly after her birth in 1802. Samuel's second wife, Delilah Love, was Chickasaw. I know some of Joab's children ended up in MO, but have not checked out who or when. Marlene, I apologize for the name mix up. (That's what I get for taking my glasses off!) Yes, I saw that Joab had a son, Samuel. Twice married. I thank you for the information Samuel's daughter, who married a Jessee Tiner. Do you know the location or county in MO that Sophia was at? Do you know if this Jessee Tiner was a cherokee indian? I find the name Jessee Tiner interesting as in checking leads for a cherokee line of mine I have run across a Jessee Tyner born in TN who married Elizabeth Mitchell a Chickasaw Indian born in KY. Strange. The below account mentions that those Tyner's stopped in Missouri. Samuel's daughter Elizabeth married a Jessee Bean. Do you have any of the names of the children of Samuel who moved to MO? http://www.geocities.com/cheezz51/FamilyWebCards/WC05/WC05_301.HTM Jesse TYNER b. abt 1789, Hamilton Co, Tennessee d. 1854, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory (Oklahoma) m. Elizabeth "Chickasaw Woman" MITCHELL . b. 1811, Kentucky ChildrenThomas M. TYNER Wriley TYNER Lewis TYNER John M. TYNER William Henry TYNER GUION MILLER COMMISSION INDIAN RECORDS FOR ROBERT J. TYNER GUION MILLER COMMISSION INDIAN RECORDS Application No. 16875 - 3918 - James B. Tyner Elizabeth Tyner being first duly sworn in behalf of Robert J. Tyner says: I am about 79 years of age. I was born in Roane Co., but I don't know the state. It was in the east. Applicant gets his Indian Blood through his father, Lewis Tyner. He died in 1878. He was born in the east. He left the east in 1850. Lewis Tyner was my husband and he was a Cherokee Indian. He was enrolled in 1851 but I don't know whether he drew money or not. In coming west, we stopped in Missouri but came to the territory in 1874. I think that Lewis Tyner was a quarteroon. Lewis was born in 1800. I married Lewis in 1847 and he was a tolerably old man at that time. He lived in Hamilton Co., Tenn. before we were married. He lived in Alabama before he moved to Tennessee. Reuben and Nathan were brothers of Lewis. He had another brother who died in the Chickasaw Nation. His name was Jesse and he married a Chickasaw woman. I don't think my Mitchell's (Clay Co.) are the line you are seeking, but I would be interested in finding more info on the above mentioned, Elizabeth Mitchell with a Tyner spouse. Interesting. Marlene, Another thought is that Joab's son Joab, Jr. had a daughter named Elizabeth. It's apparent that they moved or "visited" a lot and in various states. It's possible that this Elizabeth met the Jessee Tynor in MO also. Thru Sophia and her husband, Jessee? Wow... what tanged webs! Tamara
