Kathleen Our James H. Mitchell was b. c1810 TN and migrated to MS just bef. 1850 MS census, settled in Madison Co., MS and remained there throughout his life. He married Susanna Umpers[?] from TN. She died 1868 MS. James appears last in the 1870 Madison Co. MS census and probably died btwn 1870 and 1880. He is probably buried in the Good Hope Baptist Cemetery in Camden, Madison Co., MS in a now unmarked grave. We'll probably never know for sure. His wife and some issue are buried there in marked graves. Obviously this is not your James H. ....However, fyi, Lillis is the name of John Mitchell's wife, Cynthia Lillis Morton. John is the issue of Gavin Mitchell and Margaret Campbell of Scotland who settled in America in the early-mid 1700's . There could be a link there.....check out Genforum, message #2988 and other related messages. [Note: I've looked at this family before but found no James H. there....] R/Steven ........................................... S T E V E N M I T C H E L L -----Original Message----- From: M. Mitchell Hi Steven, Am interested in your James H. Mitchell. Can you give me details on him? 1810 is a little young for my James H. Mitchell: 1800 would be better.... Was he born in Mississippi Co., MO? I am trying to figure out if a certain James H. Mitchell, of Clinton County, Ohio is the father to Lillis (b. 1823) and Thirza (b. 1821) Mitchell of Clinton County, Ohio. Unfortunately, they both married before the 1850 census and I have been unsuccessful in figuring out who their father is. A census states that their father was born in KY but who knows??? If you have posted this before, please forgive me. I have been out of the loop with a death in the family for about 2 weeks.
