    1. [MITCHELL] Whitfield Co. GA connections?
    2. keith d bailey
    3. I have been trying to ascertain the parents of my Thomas B. Mitchell and wife Eliza for several years with no luck at all. They were both born in SC. Thomas in 1815 and Eliza in 1823. I first find them in Murray co. GA in 1850. When Thomas moved into Whitfield co. he bought land from an O L Morgan. That was ca 1861. The sheriff David W. Mitchell, lived close by and he was married to a (Cissiah) Kissiah Morgan in Franklin Co. GA, but I have not been able to make a family connection. I am now working on possible family connections within the Cemetery that my folks are buried. If anyone recognizes a name in conjunction with your family, please let me know. The first 2 people buried at the Stuart-Mitchell cemetery in Dalton, GA are Keith's. The Keith's originally were from SC (Pickens/Laurens co. area). My gg-grandmother Nancy A. Mitchell Holland is the 3rd person buried within the cemetery (1879). Her Husband B.F Holland was possibly kin to the Keith's. He and his 1st wife moved to Whitfield co. with them. Some of the Keith's and Holland's also show-up in Franklin Co., but I have not seen the connections yet. Nancy's father, Thomas B. Mitchell bought 1/4 acre around Nancy's grave on Aug. 2 1879 as a family plot. He bought the property from E A Stuart. Thomas was the next person to be buried within the cemetery, and it was in 1879. Her mother Eliza died in 1904. Now this is where the cemetery gets a little interesting. The oldest people buried at the cemetery are: G W Keith of SC 1812-1897 LETHY Ann ??? Keith 1814-1881 Thomas B. Mitchell of SC 1815-1879 Eliza ??? Mitchell of SC 1823-1904 E A Stuart 1829-1906 Sarah A. ??? Stuart 1838-1889. Then there is a LEATHY Stuart McFarland 1862-1933 who looks to be the daughter of E A Stuart. Also their is an ALEATHEA Ann Loughridge 1878-1958. I'm not sure of a connection here, but their is a Rueben Keith that Married a Laughridge in Murray co. GA in 1847. This might mean that Leathy is a family name, but I have yet to find a marriage record on any of these ladies. The only other person who seems to connect with my Mitchell's is a J. Quinn (with no dates) who served Co G 1st LA CAV CSA.... Possibly the same John W. Quinn that Deeded land to Thomas B Mitchell Jr. in 1883. But I see no relation with the Quinn's. If anything sounds familiar to anyone let me know Keith Bailey Gordon Co. GA
