I would like to run my family by everyone again.The family is all gone ,just the kids left and I do not know half my cousins.We are lost at where they come from. >From my grandfather on back we do not know but name of one sister of his. She is gone.Names are William Mercer(sp) Mitchell (my grandfather) b.April ,1879, d;Nov. 9, 1959. First wife, ( my dads mother) Mattie Nelson, from what I here they lived in Ponotoc Co. Ms.when my dad was born.Second wife m. Heneritta ? last name.b. Feb.17, 1879. d. June 13, 1946. Children: by Mattie: James Arnold Mitchell ( my father) b. Sept. 1904?, d. March,1970.Mattie died when Arnold was a baby. Arnold lived in Calhoun ,Co.Ms. Yelobusha, Co.Ms.before death. Austin Mitchell b.1899, d.Sept, 1975, lived in Yelobusha, Co., Ms.m. had 3 children that he never saw again after a divorce. Half sister and brother: John Doyle Mitchell,b. Aug. 23. 1909, d.Aug. 1981. lived in Water Valley,Ms.died in Oxford,Ms. Lola Hickey ,Lived in Mo. for years before she died. She may have been in Tn.Lived in Ms. for years before moving to Mo. Grandpa had a sister named Effie Mitchell Conway.Lived in ponotoc, Co. Ms. all her life. Our family line stops there at grandpa and his sister nothing on back.Appreciate any help. With all the activity on the list, thought it was a good time to list my information. My gr grandmother was Jane Mitchell born 1842-44, probably in South Carolina (according to census information). My grandfather, Robert Taylor Mitchell, was born in Peoria, Amite County, Mississippi. I found him on the 1880 census in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. His mother, Jane Mitchell, was listed as age 36 (census enumerated 6/4/1880) and listed as a widow. By 1889 they had moved to Arkansas where she was married to John W. Brooks in Nevada County, Arkansas on March 11, 1889, her age was listed as 47 on the marriage license application. Some other information seems to indicate she might not have been a widow but that my grandfather's birth might have been illegitimate, so this may possibly indicate her maiden name was Mitchell. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Sue Steward
