I find the Mitchell/Boone discussion interesting. I have a Nancy Mitchell (born Oct. 9, 1792 in N.C.) who married Woodson White (born Oct. 3, 1783 in Amelia Co. VA). I am sure from family records her father was David Mitchell who married Martha Love. David had a brother, Robert, who married Estel Love. Sometime in the past, a cousin who is now deceased, told my father that Nancy Mitchell was part Indian. Does anybody connect with any of this? ==== MITCHELL Mailing List ==== To UNSUBSCRIBE, please send an unsubscribe message to: Mitchell-L-request@rootsweb.com. If on digest, substitute a D for the L.

Mary, To my knowledge, William Love was the first Love in this country - at least in my line. There are different stories about his death, but they are all because of his political beliefs. His son, Thomas, saw him being killed and ran. Thomas lived among the Indians and married one full blood Indian and one 1/2 blood Indian. They lived in MS. My ggg grandmother, Delilah Love, was probably the oldest child of Thomas Love. She married Samuel Mitchell (b. 13 April 1765). I have not put all the Loves that I have on computer, but I will check and see if perhaps I can find yours. I believe several Mitchells married Indians. I know I have corresponded with someone that has both names White and Mitchell in their line.
Marlene I have a Samuel Mitchell, s/o Joab & Mary (Henderson) Mitchell; I don't have a birth year but it would have been in this time frame. I have no wife's name, only these names as children: Alyina, Sophia, Joseph & Catherine. Is this the same Samuel Mitchell? One daughter's name has been spelled different ways; however, "Alzira" is the spelling that was in the "Treaty with the Choctaws - 1805" and the spelling that has been handed down for generations. Marlene
Thank You, Marlene, for correcting and enhancing the bit of information I had. Do the other siblings agree with what you have and can this 1805 Choctaw Treaty be found on-line? In a report I have, there is a note for Edward Mitchell, Samuel's brother, saying that he (Edward) was an Agent to the Choctaw Indians; I can't locate at the moment where I have seen that Samuel was an Agent to the Choctaw's. Can you confirm or correct either of these? Samuel Mitchell, United States agent to the Chickasaws. This is in the 1805 Treaty Chickasaws with the Choctaws. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judith" <ramblinrose@attbi.com> To: <MITCHELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 02, 2003 4:08 PM Subject: [MITCHELL] Re: (Samuel 1765) - Marlene > Thank You, Marlene, for correcting and enhancing the bit of information I > had. Can you confirm or correct either of these? Judith M. I have only been able to contact one of Samuel's descendants - that of Alzira. Yes, he came up with the same things that I did. Before I came in contact with him, I had checked out my facts with Kerry Armstrong whom "I" consider the guru of Indian genealogy. He has two great sites - one of which is http://www.rootsweb.com/~itchicka/ . If you go down near the bottom of the page, you will see the Treaty with the Choctaws - 1805 which names Molly, Alzira and Sophia Mitchell. Yes, Samuel was first Indian Agent for the Choctaws and after his first wife died, he moved and became Indian Agent for the Chickasaws. On my Choctaw side of the family, my gg grandmother's sister married the brother of Samuel's first wife. Then on my Chickasaw side, Samuel m. Delilah Love, another ggg grandmother and a Chickasaw. Marlene
Marlene, I found and read the treaty; thank you for sharing you very interesting family history.
