This could be considered an English Mitchell so will pass it on. While searching my Mitchells in Mercer Co Kentucky I came across a ledger made by the Shaker Society that was in Mercer Co most of the 1800s. There was a notation in the ledger that a William S Mitchell that was born 5 April 1835 in Yorkshire England came to the village 22 Mar 1873. He apparently was traveling with a Thomas Burks as they left sometime in the spring of 1874. That was all they noted. The Shakers was a religious community that took in homeless and others that needed help.
