Hello Yvonne I've been hoping to spit some of my Mitchell ancestors through the list too - The Mitchells from Alpheton and the surrounding area in Suffolk regards Tony
As it seems to be English day mine are in the London area. Does anyone link to: Walter Thomas Mitchell b 27 July 1865. I think he was son of Thomas Mitchell and Maria Butler. He was born Islington in London then move to Greenwich, he married Maria Evans. Despite the US majority on this site I find the names of places fascinating because they all seem to derive form well know English towns and counties but their near neighbours in USA are often at other ends of the country in England. Also, there are many repetitions whereas we seem to have one main town by any name. I would guess there are some popular names that arise in every state in USA demonstrating that some homesick emigrant got to name his new home after his old. Is there a refernce book on how US towns and counties got their names and what this tells us? Clive Henderson Warwickshire.England
