I've searched for years for "my" Alexander Mitchell with no luck. He fathered a child with Nancy ALBAUGH in Cambria Co, PA in about 1850. His son was Phillip Mitchell of W. Taylor Twp, Cambria Co, Pa who died in 1902 in a horrific house fire. Nancy was married by 1860 to a John SHEARMAN. This week I was in Charleston, SC, and visited Patriot's Point. One room is dedicated to Congressional Medal of Honor holders. One Civil War honoree was 1st Lt. Alexander H. Mitchell. Anyone know who he is? Family rumor says that Alexander died at Gettysburg.
