Hello Mary, I'm not related, but wondered if you have subscribed to the county list where they lived? Have you checked www.switchboard.com for MITCHELLs in MS? A long process, but you look up all the Mitchells in MS or the cities you think they lived in. Buy yourself a calling card and use it to call them. The calling card helps to give you an idea of how much your spending on long distance. It also is sometimes cheaper than the service you may have at home. Do you know the names of your grandfather's siblings? You could go that route. Ask someone who lives in the area to look up in the telephone book the phone numbers for all the Mitchells. I would, but I don't live there. Have you contacted anyone connected to the family of John Doyle Mitchell's mother? What about the family of your grandmother? Join a local historical society or contact them for info. find out if the local papers have a genealogy column and post a query with them. These are just a few suggestions that I hope will help you.
