Hi Connie, Yes, there seems to be a bevy of Wm Mitchell's in VA as well as up north. As far as I know, mine were obviously living in VA when my ancestor, Hinchey Mitchell was born in 1775 - As you know, TN was carved from North Carolina about 1796 and many of the NC records reflect TN - I've had to search TN records then search NC records for my ancestor's who originally lived in NC but were shown in TN - You might keep that in mind if you didn't know already.
