    1. [MITCHELL] Peggy Mitchell
    2. Hello All... It has been a while since I posted my Peggy Mitchell request. Hopefully, someone with roots in Georgia will know who she is. She was probably born about 1793, but could have been born as late as 1798. Is anybody missing a Peggy, a Margaret, or any other young lady from that time period? - especially if you are in any way descended from Joel Mitchell of the same time period and area. John Ziba Hardee was born about 1782 in North Carolina. He married Peggy Mitchell in Baldwin County, Georgia, on Feb. 4, 1813. Ziba Hardee and Peggy Mitchell became the parents of two sons, Joel (1814-1879) and John (1815-?). They may also have had a daughter, believed to be Ellaphare Susan Hardee Gore, between 1820 and 1825. The family moved to Monroe County, Alabama, in 1817. Peggy died there prior to 1825. The descendants of Peggy Mitchell continue to function as one family, including a well organized family reunion every even numbered year - complete with family database. We would deeply appreciate any assistance in finding the family of our Peggy. Carol: http://www.angelfire.com/la3/HardeeGenealogy

    3. Hello, List. I'm trying to knock down a brick wall. John Henry Mitchell was born in Petersburg, Va. in 1745. He married Mary Zeigler of Rockingham Co., N.C. They had a son, Thomas Hardaway Mitchell, born in Dinwiddie Co., VA 28 Aug. 1793. The family moved to Oglethorpe Co., GA, where John Henry Died in 1806. Thomas married Ruth(ie) Tillery (who was born in Rockingham Co., N.C. in 1787, dau. of Joshua Tillery.) in 1814. They moved to Walton Co., GA where they are buried. I want to learn who John Henry's parents, other ancestors were. A problem is that second names were not much reported then. There were several John Mitchells at that time, and several Henry Mitchells. However, these obviously don't matvch the other facts I have.I also want to learn more about Mary Zeigler. If anyone can help, it would be appreciated. Bill Mitchell

    2. What year did Ohio start issuing death certificates? Or get his obituary from a newspaper that is on microfilm? Was he on any of the censuses? Did he have a will, or transfer property anywhere? Have you checked for siblings of his that might have parents listed somewhere? How about voting records or tax records? Hope this helps. Leona

    2. Leona: Thanks for posting the site on the Mitchell's. Although, I didn't see any of mine I am still searching! I'm starting to wonder where my Mitchell's were from? I was told by my Grandmother who has sense past that her family of Mitchell's were descendants from the MATTHEW MITCHELL Susan Wood Butterfield line.... But... I can't seem to find any proof of that. So, I guess it's back to square one. My gggrandfather CHARLES F. MITCHELL was born in NY in 1834. He married MINERVA HANCOCK in Allamakee Co. Iowa in 1855. He died in Vernon Co. Wisconsin in 1888. I have Charles' Civil War Pension records.. hasn't given me any clues to who his parents were or even what Co. in NY he was born. The info it did give I allready had... so where do I look next? Anyone have any thoughts on how else to pursue this one? I have been on the list for 2 yrs and haven't found one person who seems to connect to my Mitchell line. Thanks, and Happy 4th! Stacy :)

    1. [MITCHELL] Mary Adaline Mitchell
    2. Mike and Shirley Dean
    3. Hello everyone: Just thought I would throw my brick wall out there again and see if anyone can help me. I'm trying to find the parents of Mary Adaline Mitchell who married James Gray in Coles Co., IL in 1848. She was born May 30, 1828, possibly in Marshall Co., TN, and died Dec. 19, 1891 in Coles Co., IL. Supposedly, she came to IL in her early teens to live with an aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. David Dryden. While I know of several Mitchells that lived in Coles Co. at this time, I don't know if they have any connection to her. These other Mitchells originated in Washington Co., TN, which is where James Gray was from. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Shirley
