    1. [MITCHELL] Alexander Mitchell
    2. Judith
    3. In the 1850 census for Hendricks co, IN there is an Alexander Mitchell (age 85, born in Ireland) in the hh of John Gregg (age 60, born in PA). I'm wondering what Alexander Mitchell's relationship is to this family; if Nancy (age 50, born in KY; and whom I'm assuming is John's wife) might be the daughter of Alexander Mitchell? Another Gregg/Mitchell relationship I'm wondering about is that of Dr. Edward Gregg who married Martha Ann Mitchell in 1868 in Newton co, MO. Martha, born 1836 in TN, was the daughter of Morris & Sarah "Sally" (Mills) Mitchell. I have no further information on Edward Gregg. Do any of you know if there is a connection between the two Gregg lines or of the Mitchells? Judy M.

Born VA Elizabeth 12 Polly 8 Franklin 6 I have not seen the census for Rockingham Co. 1860 but, told these names and ages were listed, wife's name unreadable. Was this the same Charles G. 1. [MITCHELL] Brenda: Richard and Joel
    2. Brenda... Is the Joel you have the son of Richard? - or brother?... I have been able to find descendants of Richard, but no siblings or parents... and I am betting he had a brother named Joel and HE will be my Peggy's father. Joel was not a Hardee name until Peggy Mitchell married John Ziba Hardee - so - if naming patterns hold here, Joel Mitchell would have been her father - and a possible sibling of your Richard. Now, of course, we have a 200 year endless stream of "little Joels"... :) I guess what I need to do is join an Amelia County e-list and see what I can dig up on wills and land records. Carol

    3. Peter, Unfortunately, I do not know yet. I have gotten back as far as my gggg grandfather, John MITCHELL who lived in RI. He married Katherine Gould and they were both from Middleton, RI. According to the book "The Goulds of Rhode Island" by Rebecca Gould Mitchell, they had the following children: Joanna, Sarah, Lydia, John Catherine, Lucy Gould, Julia Ann. So, until I get further back in my line, I can't answer the question. But I do appreciate the info! 3. Hi Carol, I dug out through my files and found a paper with the descendents of Richard Madison Mitchell b. 1747 Amelia County, VA d. Feb 1818 in Jasper County, GA. My Richard Mitchell and Mary Edwards are on this and several Elizabeth's but no Hardee. This sure hard to figure out. Joel is also on this list. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Hooshooto33@aol.com> To: <MITCHELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 15, 2002 3:07 PM Subject: [MITCHELL] Re: MITCHELL-D Digest V02 #129 > Brenda... > > This is driving me NUTS... 1. Re: [MITCHELL] Coat of Arms/crest
    2. Actually the Coat of Arms was granted to an individual not a whole family. It could be passed down from son to son. The "Mitchell Coat of Arms" that I have is black shield with 3 gold diamonds seperated by a gold band with crescent and stars. I have no idea how accurate that is, and I believe that there are several Mitchell Coat of Arms that are out there. Doris Mitchell

    3. If you type in Heraldry in your search engine you will come across several sites that are just for the research of coats of arms...they give all kinds of links to help you learn about the subject. It has been a while since I visited the sites and I don't quiet recall the name...something like www.panix.com and www.heradry.com There is also a site called www.houseofnames.com that lets you look up your surname and sells all kind of stuff with the family crest on it. I don't know how accurate they are. She named her oldest son Joel (my 3-g-grandfather)... and then I looked at the surnames you are researching. You wouldn't happen to have a stray Brooks in your database, would you? 3. I'm not sure how this family fits together, hoping someone can help. My biggest question would be... is the Richard Mitchell named in the will of William Mitchell, the one that was married to Mary Edwards?????? Are Richard Mitchell and Mary Edwards the parents of Amanda Evaline Mitchell b.Dec, 1827, Jasper County, GA?? The will of William Mitchell names these relatives and witnesses. Richard Mitchell (Half Brother of above William Mitchell) Walter Mitchell (Real Brother of above William Mitchell) Elizabeth (Wife of above Walter Mitchell) William I. Mitchell (Eldest son of Walter and Elizabeth Mitchell) Executors: Walter Mitchell & Arytuchus(sp) Newton Witnesses: John Davidson, Charles Smith, William Whitfield, John Phillips and John Hayes Anybody have any connections??? I have a newspaper article that states the father of Amanda Mitchell was Richard Mitchell, but which one???? 3. Hello all, I'm trying to find out anything about my grandfather Albert Leroy Mitchell.......he died when I was very young, so i have little information about him, other than he MAY have been from Nebraska; moved to Ray or Clay County Missouri, and may have had a brother with the same name. He did show us a picture of his great grandmother, and said that she was full blooded Ute, and that her name translated to Peace. Hope this sounds familiar to someone, thanks for any help.
