John and Frances were both from N.C. All of their children are accounted for: three sons Major, James and John as well as six daughters. I have most of the sons' descendants too, I think. Am still working to prove ancestors. There was another John Mitchell in the same area in Sumner Co. who died in 1826. I think his sons James and John went to Alabama. Does anyone have anything on Juda Mitchell, age 70, who was listed on Grainger County, TN's 1840 Federal Census? She was from VA, probably a widow, and had several age groups living in her household at the time of the Census. According to the 1850 Mortality Schedule, she died July, 1850 at age 80, in Grainger County, of Palsy. Alton Underwood
