    3. G'day Fran The Jesse Mitchell on the 1901 Census could well be the one you are looking for. If you take the age away from the year of the census that makes him born 1890. Your information shows him died at 41 years in 1930 - take 41 from 1930 and you have 1889. Could be a match - now you have his brothers and sister and HIS father and mother, Aunts and Uncles from the 1881 census I have a format that I use to write up any families & it showed up immediately that these three families could be related. You will need the Birth details next. I'll keep looking. regards Jean Vic Aust 6217 ---------- >From: "Fran Jackson" <tjackson@cqnet.com.au> >To: MITCHELL-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [MITCHELL] MITCHELL-Jesse >Date: Mon, Oct 14, 2002, 8:58 PM > > Hi Jean, > Thanks for some hope. 2. Conni, any kind of "paper trail" clues could help, such as Wills, land deeds, marriage records, censuses, War records, family bibles, etc. Good luck, I hope your cousin finds something. Doris Mitchell

    3. Dear Conni, Probate records are always interesting. They tend to verify those closely related when someone passes. I also found that marriage records, in some states, give lots of good tidbits. Perhaps that far back, church records might help. And, of course Revolutionary War records could illuminate some information for you. The Library of Virginia has a lot of land grant/sale information you can access online. 3. Hi Fran My Mum in London was a Mitchell and I have gone back to late 1700 and have found most of this information on the internet. I see you are in Australia, like me. If you would like to give me more information I'll try to help you with your Mitchell ancestors. Was your Mum a Mitchell, what was her name, her brothers and sisters or her Mum & Dad. Keep in touch - I'd love to help another Mitchell's daughter. regards Jean Vic Aust 6217 ---------- >From: "Fran Jackson" <tjackson@cqnet.com.au> >To: MITCHELL-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [MITCHELL] Jesse Mitchell >Date: Sun, Oct 13, 2002, 1:42 PM > > Hi Geri, > Sorry I,m of know help to you at the moment. 2. Sam Thank you for the reply. The Indiana counties have been my problem. James was born 1850 in Indiana, so I've been searching the 1860 census town by town, only covered 4 counties with no luck so far. James married Mary Coleman December 25, 1879 in Elkhart County, have the marriage cert. The 1900 census has James and his Father and Mother born in Indiana. 2. Dianne: It just so happens that my Grandma was a Mitchell that married a Burdge- Burge..in about 1934. Allthough I'm sure ours are not related, I do have some "Burge" researchers that might be able to find a connection to your Sally Burge Mitchell? Maybe? My Burdge family was from England>then Prince Edward Island, Canada and then Massachusetts. late 1800's. Contact me off the list and I will see if I can find the addresses of some of the other Burge's. I know of one that has his tree back to the early 1700's or so. Regards, Stacy :)
