MS but married in TN..ended up in MO....as we have discussed and searched for before... He named one of his children William Walter and the other names are in his family also...seems such a coincidence that all the names are so similar... Still looking!! Maybe later today I'll post all his children again, and what I know. Leaving for work appointments now. Thanks! Sandi Mitchell Menifee CA

Anyway, this is why I have Warren Mitchell in my files because of Mary Christmas Mitchell Stephens and why your posting caught my eye. I have always felt that Willis would be related to my Stephenses. Mary's brother, Daniel's middle name isn't Walter my any chance? I am just looking for similarities. Josiah's father was also Daniel Stephens born 1793 SC. I know I am missing many siblings of Daniel Stephens (1793), so I was hoping Willis fit in there. ??? Karen
Karen, I have been following your dialog with Doris. We, too, are MS Mitchells. Doris has provided some possible links which we are researching at this time. We are of George T. Mitchell b. c1840 TN and removed to Madison County, MS for most of his life, d. 1898. His father is James H. [M?] Mitchell b. c1810 TN d. c1870's m. to Susannah ____. What are the b'dates, etc of Hugh and Sally Mitchell. Do you know when James Marion was born? and where? Thank you. ........................................... The sons from this family were: William Carroll, Hugh E. and James Marion. Hugh and Sally had seven girls. They were: Sally, Rebecca, Nancy, Parthenia Jane, Elizabeth Emeline, Mary Ellen, and Arminda. I descend from daughter, Nancy Medlock Mitchell who married Josiah Stephens in Jackson County, AL. Howell Mitchell married (1) Mary "Polly" Lewis, (2) Narcissa Price (3) Phoebe Jefferson Clark. He was in Chatham Co., NC but migrated to Marion Co., TN and then on to Pontotoc Co., MS which is next to Itawamba Co., MS. He had children by all 3 wives. I have a detailed bio on him which I can send you if you are intersted. Doris
Hi Karen, there may be a connection there as my Mitchells also migrated to Itawamba Co., MS. What are the given names in your family? Thanks. :) Doris
Doris, What do you know about Warren's brother, Howell ? Thanks, Karen

Anyone know anything about Ransford? Doris, congrats.... I am hoping you find Warren Mitchell related to my Hugh Mitchell. :>) Several of us have wondered if he wasn't Jehu...or James Hugh or John Hugh, etc. Hugh was born 1786 NC. I have been told his parents were from Ireland, but....I could never prove that. I have been at a total brick wall with him. Maybe you are onto something. Hugh married Sally Holland from Green Co., TN. They moved into Jackson County, AL where they lived until their deaths. However, members of Hugh's children (and extended relatives) moved their families to Itawamba County, MS in the 1840s. Please keep your eyes peeled for Hugh Mitchell (and possibly Jehu, etc) while searching for your Warren's lineage. Thanks, Karen
I just recently found Ransford Mitchell on the 1815 Chatham Co., NC tax list. I believe that he is a brother to my Warren Mitchell. Other brothers of Warren are: William, Howell, and John. These were all sons of John Mitchell who was from Ireland. Anyone know anything about Ransford? Many thanks and Happy Holidays. Doris Mitchell

I am looking for any descendants of George Mitchell and Ada Barry who were married August 21, 1879 in Catoosa Co. Georgia. I am wondering if George is the brother to my gg-grandmother Mary Nancy Anne Mitchell Holland of Whitfield Co. GA....her brother George W. would have been born ca. 1858. Keith Bailey Gordon Co. GA
I have just uncovered a Mitchell connection for my line and I would like to talk with others who have Mitchell's in Augusta County, Virginia from about 1800 to present. I am looking for a Catherine Mitchell who married a Maurice (spelling could be different) O'Connell prior to 1891. They had a daughter, Margaret or Maggie born April 1891 and they were Catholic. Story has it that Catherine died either while giving birth to Margaret or shortly thereafter.
