Michelle, I don't really know of a Zachariah Mitchell in my family, but that doesn't mean we aren't related. I have a John Mitchell, Jr. born during the 1780s. Have you located him in a census? (Zachariah). Doris

Hi... I'm doing the WATSON genealogy and am looking for the children or grandchildren of Ralph and Araminta CLARKSON WATSON. Ralph and Minta were born in Iowa and moved to Crivitz, Wisconsin where Ralph died of a drowning in 1953. Minta moved to Clinton, Clinton county Iowa sometime after that. She passed away in 1984 and his buried in Crivitz with her husband. They had 4 children, one of who pre-deceased Minta. The 3 living in 1984 were Frank WATSON, Marquette, Michigan June MITCHELL, Racine, Wisconsin and Lois EWING, Olympia, Washington. Ralph and Minta were my g-aunt and uncle and I would appreciate hearing from any of these people or their children. Thank you. Donna
Hello Mitchell List, I'm a new subscriber to the list - I descend from Hinchey Mitchell Sr. who was born in VA, 1775 - Seemed to have lived in SC, travelled to GA and into Clark County (Athens) GA where he paid taxes around 1809, there were other Mitchell's in this area and there seems to have been a connection of which I've not proved. My ancestor, Hinchey Mitchell Sr migrated further south into Henry Co GA in which Clayton Co was carved, there, Hinchey Mitchell Sr raised a large family - His wife is only known by the letter "M", she was born 1781c South Carolina (according to one census) - She had died by the time of Hinchey Sr's will dated 1862 and probated 1863 - His oldest son, Jonathan Mitchell born 1799c SC of Fayette Co GA was Exec. of his father's will. Another son (brother of Jonathan) my ancestor named, Allen David Mitchell who married Elmina Estes, daughter of Allen Toney Estes SR of SC and GA - If anyone wishes to discuss this Mitchell family, will be glad to help - I need info on Hinchey Mitchell SR - I also know there was another by the same name in SC - Hinchey Mitchell born 1772-5c SC migrated to Tuscaloosa AL, raised a large family and died 1819 and is buried there. I can't imagine two adult Mitchell's with the unusual christian name of "Hinchey" - which I understand is actually an Irish version of "Henessey" - Anyone decscending from my branch or the other Hinchey's lineage, I would love to know more! Thanks! MaryJean Childress Voegtlin
Doris, Around Christmas you responded to my query about Zachariah Mitchell. I was at my parents on my dads computer when I tried to open it. His computer locked up and I never got to read it and when I got back online it was gone not in new mail or old mail. I would really like to know if we have the same Zachariah. Mine was killed in Texas in an accident in 1850. He was married to Mary Martha Morris. He was born about 1813 and his father was a John Mitchell born about 1780. This is about all I have on him other than his children. Anything you have would be great. Thanks, Michelle

For those of you out there that are relatively new to genealogy, like myself, I found the following explantation of "strays" at the Ontario Genealogical Society's web page. I am posting this information to all of the lists which I subscribe to. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE OGS STRAYS PROJECT A Stray is defined as a person who is described in a record of an event as being from, or connected with, a place outside the area in which that event took place. For example, when someone born in one place dies in another and this event is reported in a local newspaper, or his or her birthplace is noted on the tombstone or listed on the death registration, that person has 'strayed' from his or her place of origin. This record becomes useful when it is repatriated to that place of origin. The Ontario Genealogical Society has been collecting strays for some time and regularly exchanges them with other provinces, and countries such as Australia, Great Britain, New Zealand and the United States. Strays are collected to help family historians find missing relations. Over the years, many people lose touch with family members. The object of publishing these volumes is to make available lists of those names that have been collected since the first booklet was issued. http://www.ogs.on.ca/publications/ogspubs.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By the way, I am planning a trip to Toronto, Feb. 11 to Feb. 18, 2003. I welcome any suggestions for cheap accommodations or places to go for researching my Canadian ancestors. I would really like to find BMD records. I have pretty much exhausted my on-line search options, and I have acquired as many census records through LDS, NAC and Ancestry.com as I can. Thanks in advance to all who reply. Does anyone have information on Anna Mitchell who was married to Alex Kegg. They had at least three children: Mary Ellen (Lally), Joseph Alex Kegg, and Thomas Vincent Kegg. I believe Thomas Vincent Kegg is my great-great grandfather (married to Lydia Pearle-Reichner or Reckner) and lived in Uniontown, PA. Thanks -- Kerri

Sorry folks, hope the list administrator doesn't kick me out, but I just had to get my word in about the Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Music City Bowl. Go Gophers !! (my son is in the marching band) You folks have all been cheering for your teams. I hope the Gophers win, yet I know that Nashville has never seen a "Big 10" marching band. They are 300 members strong! Let the music roll in Nashville!! Who cares about the game? Elizabeth Mitchell Young Proud clarinet mother of a University of Minnnesota marching band member
STACY!!! Please email me off list! I misplaced your email address when I switched addresses and all I can remember is stacyplace. Help! Bren
Carol, I noticed both Mitchell and Higgins in your list of names to be researched. My great great grandfather, John Mitchell was married to Biddy Higgins (presumably Bridgett). They were from Mount Bellew, County Galway, Ireland. My great grandfather Patrick (born 1864) came to Philadelphia in 1884 and eventually settled in Boston, MA. We've been able to identify one other brother, Martin who stayed in Ireland. Martin's children also came to the Boston area though. We've had little luck with tracking down information on John and Biddy and/or other siblings. Was Richard a sibling? Regards, John H. Mitchell
