You speak of Abraham Mitchell in your query but I see no reference date. I have several with various dates of birth. Could you enlighten further? I don't know when they died Doris. Their father John died 1852 in Fauquier Co. William and John Jr were still alive and enumerated in the Fauquier Co census of 1880. They were 77 and 80 years old at the time so I assume they died there but I've not been able to find anything. Thanks - George MITCHDOR@aol.com wrote: > Hi George, > I found the records you mentioned earlier. When did William and John Jr. > die? Hi George, I found the records you mentioned earlier. When did William and John Jr. die? They may have died too early to have death certs., but there might be other info. Did they die in Fauquier Co.? Doris
Wallace I am a descendant of Nimrod Mitchell. I have his father as Benjamin and grandfather as Abraham. Is that correct? I have no siblings listed for Nimrod or Benjamin. Do you have sibling information? Also, I am wondering if Isaac Mitchell was connected to the Nimrod line (sounds like he might be). I am also researching the Pool line, VA>SC>AL>TX. John Pool, b 1749, 96th Dist., SC, named one of his sons Mitchell Pool and another Isaac Mitchell Pool. John Pool served under Capt. Isaac Mitchell in 1777. Doreen Pool
Hi Mary Jean, Well, I found some things on your Hinchey Mitchell b. 1775. I find that he was married to Margaret Thomasson. Died 1863 in Clayton co., GA. His father was given as Thomas Mitchell, mother -Mary Ann Barnett. He is also know as John Hinchey Mitchell. I found a Hinchey M. Mitchell who died from disease while serving for the Confederacy in 1862, he was only 20 when he died. He is the son of your Allen David Mitchell. He served in Co. D, 14th Ga. Inf. There is a Hinchey Mitchell in Henry Co., GA. 1830, probably yours. I hope this is helpful. Doris
I have been searching for the family of my grandfather, Albert Leroy Mitchell, born in August of 1894, died in Liberty Missouri, Clay County in September of 1967. Could this be Gerties brother? Hi, there were alot of Mitchells in Cecil co., MD. Have you tried searching there? It is just across from Chester Co., PA. where there were also alot of Mitchells. Doris
Mary Jean, My grandfather - Henry Mitchell - was born 23 Aug 1876 in Cobb County (Marietta) Georgia. On 15 Aug 1867 he married Margaret Katherine Glover 19 Jul 1902. He died 31 Mar 1957 and is buried in Fulton County (Atlanta) Ga. His father was Henry Mitchell born 2 Jan 1833 in Alabama, I think. He married Amanda Brimer (1845-1922) 15 Aug 1867 in Cobb County (Marietta) Ga. They are both buried at Bethel Baptist Church near Smyrna, Ga. In one of the Censuses, great grandpa Mitchell says his father was born in South Carolina. And that's all I know about them. This has been my brick wall now for a couple of years. Doesn't look like there's any kin her to your Mitchells, but maybe brothers/cousins or something? Glenn Mitchell
Searching for ancestry of Gertrude (Gertie) Viola MITCHELL, born 1887 possibly in Indiana, died July 2, 1966 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co., WI, married Aug. 8, 1906 George William HUGHES in Buchanan, Berrien Co., MI. She also married Robert HEATER in Dowagiac, Cass Co., MI. She and George are buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg, LaFayette Co., WI. I think her father's first name is Albert and her other siblings may be: Gaylen, Harold, Guy, LeRoy, Kate, Helen, Grace, and Ivan. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you, Mike Hughes
thanks so much. Millie
I haven't pursued my MITCHELL line for some time and thought perhaps some of you seasoned researchers might have some answers for me. My 4g gf John MITCHELL was married to Elizabeth GILLUM of Goochland Co VA. They supposedly had 15 children but I only know of 4 Orlinda William Benjamin John Jr His second wife was Sarah PATTERSON with whom he was living when he died 1852 in Fauquier Co. I have his will and probate records and only those 4 children were identified. Orlinda, my 3g gm married John EDDENS and moved to MO. William and John Jr were still living in Fauquier Co in 1880. I have significant data on Orlinda but what I'm hopeful of finding is some death records for William, Benjamin and/or John Jr that might shed some light on their father John - where he came from (the 1850 census sez MD) and any leads to his family. If someone has some help or leads for me I'd appreciate hearing from you. Regards - George
Mary Jean, My Henry was born about 1745 in Virginia area. He married a Sarah Maderias sometime around 1764. They moved to n.c. then to s.c. They ended up in jones county Georgia in abt. 1805. I thought I was kin to the Henry Mitchell line of Virginia , My uncle had told me my henry mitchells parents were henry mitchell and priscilla jones , but According to the DNA test it did not match. We are waiting for more people to enter. I did match 12 of 12 with the Isaac Mitchell family of virginia. He was born abt 1729 in Virginia. And I did match 11 out of 12 with the nimrod Mitchell line of s.c. , They come from a Abraham Mitchell of Virginia . My Mitchell's lived in green, hancock, jones, baldwin, houston, taylor and marion counties of georgia. Henry Mitchell and Sarah Maderias Had the following children: 1.Henry Mitchell jr 2.Drury Mitchell Born 1765 in Virginia. Married 1st Sarah Patsy Taylor. 2.Rhoda Rebecca (mary) Lassiter. 3.Mathew Mitchell 4.Joshua Mitchell Married Rebecca Richardson 5.Nathaniel G. Mitchell 6.Robert (Ricey) Maderias John Mitchell Born 1770 Married Martha Flournoy 7.Ransom Mitchell 8.Sterling Mitchell born 1777 Married Rebecca Brewer 9.Susanna Sukey Mitchell born april 17th 1777 in N.C. married Henry Brewer If you see something let me know. wallace
Doris, Only the 1850 census in Titus, Texas. That census was done in the spring or summer in Texas, and his wife and children were alone that fall in the 1850 census of Stone County, Arkansas. Michelle
Reference - Henry Mitchell Sr - Georgia - Hi Doris - I hope they respond to this message - I would like to know more about those by the christian name in and round the Atlanta (GA) area. During my research (I live in the area) - I've seen data on three, older adult Mitchell's named "Henry" - One lived in Dekalb Co GA - Another lived in the Wilkes Co GA area (further southeast of Atlanta), one in Fayette Co GA whose birthdate was about 1772-5 born VA - He I also believe lived in Clark Co the same time as my Hinchey Mitchell Sr. My ancestor, Hinchey Mitchell SR I believe was the brother or cousin of the Henry Mitchell born VA, 1772-5 - I believe him to have been in Henry Co GA (founded 1821) first - then he went to the part of Fayette Co which was originally Henry Co - The other's I know of - Hinchey Sr's son, Jonathan had a son named Henry M. Mitchell - Daniel Mitchell was the father of a Henry Mitchell - both the previous Mitchells were confused in so many records and not only that, one of them, Jonathan's son, married the other Henry's widow! This is how I see it anyway! My Hinchey Sr also had a son named Henry Mitchell, he had died by 1862 and I have no data on him. Hope those reading these messages will respond! Thanks for writing! MaryJean
Reference - Miles Jefferson Mitchell of AL - Hi Millie - Thank you for responding to my message - I'm sorry, I have no research on Miles, but I do know "Miles" was a popular christian name as far as VA and SC go. Good luck in your research! Sincerely, MaryJean

Mary Jean, Hi, this sounds very much like the line of Henry Mitchell Sr. who migrated from Prince George County, VA. to Henry county, GA. and surrounding areas. There are two people on this list who claim to be descended from him, I believe one is David Mitchell, and the other might be Wallace Mitchell. I am not positive. These people might be able to help you figure all of this out. These Mitchells were from Scotland and then went to Ireland before going to America. There was an Aquilla Mitchell in Fayette county, GA. I think this Aquilla Mitchell may have been from Cecil Co., Maryland which is adjacent to Chester Co., PA. There are alot of Mitchells from Chester Co. PA. Doris
