    3. What area of Mississippi? My grandfather, Robert Taylor Mitchell, was born in Amite County, MS in 1878 and was in Pontotoc Co, MS in the 1880 census. 3. I have an Elijah Mitchell in my family and have seen others. My Elijah was born in 1788 in Virginia or North Carolina and was married to an Elizabeth Vineyard. Unfortunately I don't have any other information about this branch of the tree so I don't know where he died or was buried. I have seen numerous Elijah Mitchells mentioned. So it was probably a common name. Do I ever wish for something less common than Mitchell or McFarland. Thankfully the other family I am researching is Baldus although there are enough of them to drive me crazy also. Happy researching! 1. [MITCHELL] Mitchell Family of Clinton County, Ohio
    2. M. Kathleen Felsted
    3. Hello, We have two women, who we believe to be sisters, who were raised in Clinton County, Ohio. 1. Lillis Mitchell, born 10 Sep 1823, married in Clinton County, to Daniel Nolan Fulk (of Highland County, Ohio) and moved to Scotland County, Missouri about 1845, where they both died. (BTW, Lillis named a daughter Thirza.) Transcribed marriage records erroneously give her name as Lillie. 2. Thirza Mitchell, born 4 Jul 1821, married in Clinton County, to Calvin Seldon Webber (of Clinton County, Ohio) moved to Scotland County, Missouri about 1848. Thirza was his second wife. When Calvin died in 1851 in Scotland County, Missouri, Thirza came back to Clinton County, Ohio for about 3 years but returned to Scotland County. (Obituary notice) Because both were married before the 1850 census, we have not been able to discern who their parents are. Thirza and Calvin Webber lived next door to John Mitchell in Washington Township in the 1840 census. That John I believe is John Mitchell who married Mary Sanderson. Their marriage date, and the number of known children and birthdates, implies that this is not the correct parent to Thirza and Lillis. In that same township, was a Ebenezer and Lillis Mitchell Seamon(s). (Also called Lillie in transcribed marriage records.) She could be a relative to our two sisters. We have not been able to find any information in probate, wills or court records about this family. There was a James H. Mitchell, present in the 1830 and 1840 census, who could have been a parent to these two girls. Is there anyone out there who knows who the parents of Thirza and Lillis? Or can eliminate them from other Mitchell families of Clinton County, Ohio? Thanks, Kathie

    2. I have a Warren Mitchell married to Maude Elizabeth Hightower, living in Fulton co., AR. I think that these Hightowers and Mitchells came from White Co., GA. I have some info on the Hightower family somewhere, I think they originally came from Wales. Oh by the way, I also have Moores, the farthest back that I can find on my Moores is Calvin Moore from Cherokee Co., NC. He married Dovea P. Hart, they lived in Fulton Co., AR. Calvin disappeared mysteriously, and there was reason to believe he may have been murdered while driving his team of horses to visit his son. There had been several killings at the time around that area, someone was taking the horses and probably selling them. Doris Mitchell

    1. Re: [MITCHELL] Mitchell's to Indiana from NC?
    2. MoneyFish@aol.com, Your E-mail interest me, I'm also trying to track back my Mitchell's from Indiana. Looking at the 1880 census for Randolph County, Greens Fork Township, I noticed that Warren Mitchel, only had one 'L' in his name? My great grandfather, James D. Mitchell, was born 1850 some where in Indiana, supported by his D/C and 1880, 1900 & 1920 census. He was a blacksmith; Married Mary A. Coleman, 25 December 1879 in Elkhart County, then lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan in the 1880 census. He should be in the Indiana 1850, 60, or 70 census as a son, but I haven't found him so far, got a lot of census to look at yet. The children are left orphaned, and the will states the adm. is to find homes for the children. I am following a lead that maybe Warren and Lovet somehow found there way to Indiana.     1. Re: [MITCHELL] Ref - HINCHEY MITCHELL SR{ I have Hightowers Too}
    2. Hi Donna, Reference - Hightower-Mitchell families - The Hightower family you mention is most interesting! Seems there were two Mitchell families who married into the Hightowers. The Mitchell-Hightower marriages in my (Mitchell) ancestor's brother's, lineage was quite early, before your's I believe. The Jonathan Mitchell, born 1799 SC/GA who married Sarah Hightower, was the son of Hinchey Mitchell born 1775 VA. This Hightower - Mitchell family were in Clarke Co GA (bef 1809) and migrated to Henry Co, then to Fayette Co GA where they lived and died...If there is a connection, I would think it would begin with the Hightowers and according to most of the info I've seen, this branch of Hightower who married into my Mitchell family were from perhaps VA, but for certain NC and then migrated to GA. Thanks for writing! MaryJean
