Cousins I have been searching for 20 years for the parents or siblings of a William Mitchell born around 1797-1800 somewhere in Virginia. He was married in Mercer Co Kentucky in 1821 and moved to Lawrence Co Indiana for the rest of his long life. I am still looking. cheers
Doloris: If you ever find anything about this please post to this list. My Mitchell family lived in Rockingham County, Virginia for a while in the late 1700s but unfortunately we know nothing about the family's time there. I don't know the names of my earliest ancestor's (William Mitchell) parents or even his wife. We know that several of his children were born there but not certain if in Rockingham or other county. My ancestor, Elijah/Elisha, and his brother, James, migrated to Franklin Co., AR. There he married Mary Jane Dickerson, also from TN. James was already married to a Nancy ? Elijah was born 1827-31 and James abt. 1825. (Dates depend on which census one is looking at. What county is Obion in, please? I have been told that my Mitchells were from Hardin Co. but also Perry Co. Thanks. Barbra

As I am only looking for Mitchells in England, I am curious as to whether this list is just for American Mitchells as I haven't seen any letters from anyone searching over there Yvonne.
Hello Janine Edward Bascom Mitchell's parents were Andrew H. and Minerva Ann Nichols Mitchell. We think Minerva's gfather was Edward B. Nichols. No record of his middle name, but maybe that is who Edward Bascom was named after????? Andrew's parents were Daniel and Elizabeth McCann Mitchell. Daniel's parents were Joel and Mary (?) Mitchell. Minerva's sister Hester Garrison, named one of her sons Bascom. Edward and Andrew lived with their families possibly in Randolph, Independence and Lonoke counties of AR. I have records of their living in Cleburne and White Co AR. It's amazing how much they moved around. My Mitchell's came from Tennessee also but spent most of their adult life in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. Calvin Thomas (Peter) Mitchell was born about 1829 in Tennessee. In the 1860 Muhlenberg County Census he is called Peter C. Mitchell, and in the 1970 Muhlenberg County Census he is called C.T. Mitchell. I'm not sure if his name is Peter Calvin Thomas Mitchell or Calvin Thomas and his nickname is Peter. Any help would be great.
