Thanks a lot. What info do you have? Millie
I found quite alot on the above Mitchell. This, I believe, would be the father to your Miles Mitchell. They descend from Experience Mitchell according to some. Mother of Miles is listed as Dolly Raisor. Doris
I think he was born either in Ala. Ga. Or S.C. Thanks Millie
I am looking for Mitchell's that were in Springwater, Livingston Co. NY in 1820,30 and 40. Looking for parents and siblings of James Mitchell born 1799. Thanks, Paula doghouse1@brainerd.net
Millie, Do you know what state James was born in? My James was born March 31, 1850 in Indiana. Mary, To my knowledge, William Love was the first Love in this country - at least in my line. There are different stories about his death, but they are all because of his political beliefs. His son, Thomas, saw him being killed and ran. Thomas lived among the Indians and married one full blood Indian and one 1/2 blood Indian. They lived in MS. My ggg grandmother, Delilah Love, was probably the oldest child of Thomas Love. She married Samuel Mitchell (b. 13 April 1765). I have not put all the Loves that I have on computer, but I will check and see if perhaps I can find yours. I believe several Mitchells married Indians. I know I have corresponded with someone that has both names White and Mitchell in their line.
> That's very interesting, I do not know about Joab Boone. I just remembered that John Mitchell was married to Nancy Boone. Doris It was Joab "Mitchell" b. 1721. He was s/o Hannah & Thomas Mitchell. Joab Mitchell m. Mary Henderson. I just wanted to show that both Joab and his in-laws were associated with Daniel Boone. I wonder if John and/or Moses were brothers to Joab???????. Joab went to KY. Samuel, one of Joab's sons, went to MS and married 1. Mary Folsom (a Choctaw Indian) and 2. Delilah Love (a Chickasaw Indian). It has been stated that he was a lawyer. Most of the Mitchells from this line moved west. There are different Mitchells in Bristol Parish, VA having children in the early 1700's. In case the names mean anything to some of you, the children were Joshua, Dan, John, Thos, Fran, Mary, Barbary, Nath, Peter, Sam and Joab. Marlene

Hi Steve, yes that's what I had found too, Moses Mitchell married Mary Grant, and 2nd wife was Elizabeth Boone. I am of the belief that John Mitchell who married Nancy Boone was descended from Andrew Mitchell who was from Scotland, he does name one of his sons Andrew. I know that is not direct proof, but it is more than just pure speculation. Also, his location gives indication of that, as well as his association with the Boone family. One source I found gave Daniel Boone as the father of Nancy. Another did not. Thanks for all your information, you have more than likely helped some people on this list. :) Doris
Thought I would post my Mitchell connection, maybe someone has come across this family Elizabeth MITCHELL m. Richard FREEMANTLE 1 Nov. 1795 at St Mary's Portsea, Hampshire, England. Elizabeth died before 1814. the couple had the following children Richard b. 1796 London Samuel b. 1802 London John b. 1805 London I have not been able to find any info on my Elizabeth Mitchell Regards Margaret
Doris, It was Moses Mitchell who married Mary Grant, daughter of William Grant & Elizabeth Boone, sister of Daniel Boone the frontiersman. The John Mitchell you speak of married Nancy Boone b. 9/14/1775 d. 7/30/1821. Depending on who you believe, she was either the daughter of Daniel Boone and Rebecca Bryan, Or the daughter of Jacob Boone and Mary Dehart. Jacob, b. 1754 is the son of Joseph Boone and Elizabeth Warren. Joseph, b. 1730 is the son of Joseph Boone and Catherine Brown. Joseph, b. 1704 is the son of George Boone and Mary Maugridge, parents of Squire Boone m. Sarah Morgan etc. etc. , direct ancestors of the frontiersman, Daniel Boone. I really don't know which parentage is correct for this Nancy Boone who m. John Mitchell. Still, whoever Nancy's parents are, she and John's issue don't seem to be connected to my Mississippi Mitchell's. Their issue, James, b. 1797 is not the James H. Mitchell b. c1810 we are searching for. Ho Hum....on to the next lead. Thank you all for your leads. ........................................... There was also John Mitchell who married a Boone girl, I will have to look that up, but they both appear to descend from Andrew Mitchell of Scotland. I will get back to you. > Hi Tom, funny that you mention Mercer co., KY. There were a family of > Mitchells there who were married into the BOONE (Daniel Boone), family. Do you know anything of a Moses Mitchell, or Andrew Mitchell in your line? Doris The message below was written about my Mitchell ancestor that married a Henderson - not marry a Boone. I think the above message and this must tie in some way, but I cannot figure out how unless they are siblings of my ancestor???? "Joab Mitchell was a pioneer of the west having lived with Daniel Boone in the Fort where Boonesboro KY now stands and where he died on March 13, 1780." "Samuel Henderson who died in Franklin City, Tenn. was born in NC. He went with Daniel Boone in the early settlement of Ky and became attached to Eliza Calloway, the daughter of Col. Calloway, the bosom friend of Dan Boone and was married, but before she married, Eliza and a daughter of Dan Boone were taken captive by the Indians and on the third day were recaptured by the whites." Related names - Henderson, Dyer, Haile, Hall, etc. This line does have surnames as middle names as mentioned by someone on this list. It is said that one of the Hendersons owned most of what is now KY. Marlene
Hi Celia Just a quick observation for you to consider. My Uncle Albert b 1898 then Aunt Rose b1899 then Annie (mum) b1901 and 13 years later Aunt Jessie was b 1913. No one can guess the reason for the big gap and they have all passed on now. Lifes funny like that I always work with the parents ages in front of me too, it helps. See ya. Does anyone have information on Franklin Mitchell who lived in the Philadelphia area (may have been in New Jersey for a time) in the late 1800s. He was a Quaker but disowned because he married outside the religion to Ella Baldwin and he may have been an alcoholic. I suspect he was born about 1850s. He was associated with Mitchell Fletcher Co., a speciality food store in Philadelphia. Pete Jackson
Hi Millie, no I don't. If you can give me more info, I will see what I can find. Doris
Hi Mary Jean, did you read my post several weeks ago about Thomas Mitchell? Doris
