    2. Marlene I have a Samuel Mitchell, s/o Joab & Mary (Henderson) Mitchell; I don't have a birth year but it would have been in this time frame. I have no wife's name, only these names as children: Alyina, Sophia, Joseph & Catherine. Is this the same Samuel Mitchell? Judith M. This is the same Samuel Mitchell. One daughter's name has been spelled different ways; however, "Alzira" is the spelling that was in the "Treaty with the Choctaws - 1805" and the spelling that has been handed down for generations. 2. Sandra &/or Bill Mitchell
    3. Hi Judith, My Great Grand Father's name is George Washington Mitchell, born about 1830 & married Martha Ann Day, daughter of John Day & Lucy Howard Day Martha was born about 1831 in Franklin Co. Tn. I don't know where George W. was born, some say Va. as his Father William Pennington Mitchell was supposedly from Va. There are a lot of Day's in my line coming from from this one marriage. They settled near Center, Tx. in Shelby Co. near La. Sabine River line. They are buried in North Jerico Cem. & the oldest graves in the Cemetery. John born about 1795 & Lucy about 1801. They had quite a few kids & they are spread all over Tx. by now. Last year one of their descendants died & it was in the Dallas, Tx. paper & he had been Dean at Texas Christian University. I have some info on the family from correspondence, not a great deal. Last year I went with my cousin here in Dallas, to Grayson County north of here & visited my Great Grand Dad's brother's grave near Callisburg. She found me a few years ago doing her research & I didn't know about all she has shown me on my family & I likewise was able to go with her to show her the graves & markers that I knew about from my Dad. It sure has been fun. This year a couple in Estill Springs, Tn. cleaned & photographed & sent me pictures of another of my Great's brothers buried at Estill Springs, Tn. He is William Pennington Mitchell Jr. People doing this have been so helpful & nice. I do free look ups in one county in Tn. & one county in Tx. to try to help others. Thanks for your inquiry, Billy Mitchell > Hi Billy > In my database I have a George R. Mitchell (1872 - 1962) married Lucy Day. > George is the s/o Jessee B. Mitchell (1841 TN - 1917). Jessee B. 2. I spent alot of time tracking down George Mitchell's. Mine are in NC, I have come across this George Mitchell in SC, I do not believe he is mine, but I may have kept some early info on him, I will check, if so I will reply. I do remember I have seen some land documents on him and maybe a will???? I came across this info many months ago I realized he was not connected to my George's, and may have disregarded the material, but I will check. K Mitchell

    2. Hi, the Moses from Iredell co., was descended from Andrew Mitchell. I don't know about William, but I have to wonder since they lived along the same water-way. Doris

    1. [MITCHELL] Book Mitchell Family Hawkins Co. TN
    2. Although I received my information from other sources, I was wondering if anyone on the list might belong to the Mitchells in the book, "Mitchell Family Records of Hawkins County Tennessee". One copy of the book has a little more information than the one found on RootsWeb's WorldConnec Project. If you go to http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com and type in Joab Mitchell and then go down to the database of josephgswallow, you will see mention of the book as well as my line. Some doing research on that line say Joab/Jacob was born in Scotland, but dates of his birth and baptism are in the church records in Prince George Co., VA. I just thought that this might bring some of us together in a common search. Surely, I am not the only one on the list that belongs to this line. Marlene

    2. Virginia Mitchell
    3. My greatgrandfather, William Riley Mitchell, had (that we know of) a brother named John and three sisters; Susan, Lydia, and Harriet. These siblings were born in Wilkes County, NC "along Hunting Creek". William Riley b. 7MAR1807 and Lydia b.27Oct1814 are the only birth dates I have, but these dates fall within your search criteria. All the above siblings eventually moved to Macon County, in north central Mo., but John Mitchell then moved again to Vernon County in southwestern Mo. (info in Nevada city library). Back in Wilkes County, NC there were two William Mitchell heads of household of which one was along Hunting Creek (the other in western Wilkes County) Also a Moses Mitchell who lived in Iredell County, again along Hunting Creek. I know nothing about this William and not much about Moses. This is my brick wall. Hope this helps you. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dale Laws <drlaws@icx.net> To: <MITCHELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 28, 2003 9:44 PM Subject: [MITCHELL] John Mitchell, bn. 12 Mar 1803, NC > I'm researching the family of my ancester John Mitchell, of western NC, > that was born on 12 Mar 1803.
