    1. [MITCHELL] Grainger County Marriages
    2. Conni Braun
    3. Does anyone have a book or information on Mitchell marriages that took place in Grainger County in the 1800s? If so could you take the time to do some postings? I have several family members for which I have no information, especially the females. I am especially interested in marriages for the following: Tabitha, born 1791 William Jr. born 1793 Aquilla born 1795 Isaac born 1800

    3. I am just not too familar with the Missouri Mitchells. My direct line left TN and moved to Dickinson County, KS. My grandfather moved to Independence, Missouri in the late 1920s and married my grandmother. That's where I grew up. It was only two years ago that I found out there were other Mitchells in Missouri to which I was distantly related. I'll try to post what little information I have about Missouri Mitchells later this weekend. When you find something about a Mitchell I suggest you post it to this list. When I am researching my other family lines and see something on a Mitchell I try to post it here. 2. Sophia Mitchell (d/o Samuel Mitchell s/o Joab Mitchell) married Jesse Tiner in 1834 - Green Co., MO. She was 1/4 Choctaw b. AL or MS? She definitely was away from her family, but later was in the 1855 Choctaw Census with the Indians again. Perhaps she was visiting relatives?????? Was anyone's ancestors there in that period that might fit into this family. I know her aunts and uncles, but do not know where they lived. Marlene

    3. Cheryl: I have to confess that I didn't do all the research in my Mitchell line. There is a wonderful woman in Springfield, Missouri who used to work for the USO. When she was travelling she would go to the county courthouses and do research into our Mitchell family. Without her we wouldn't be very far along either. I've had to learn patience when it comes to working on my family histories. By the way, some of my Mitchells were in Missouri and could have crossed over into Arkansas. I just haven't been able to trace all the various lines. That's the purpose for posting our lineage to see if anyone can make a connection. Happy Researching! 1. [MITCHELL] Mitchell lineage
    2. Conni Braun
    3. This list has gotten very active recently. As long as everyone keeps posting we may have some good connections made. Here is my other generation of Mitchells for which I am seeking information: William Mitchell (Old William), born 1764 in Chester County, PA; moved to Rockingham County, VA where he fought during the Revolutionary War. He probably married someplace in VA because that's where his oldest children were born. We do not have the name of his wife or his parents. His children: James, born 1784, Virginia Greenberry Sr. - see previous posting Amelia, born 1790; married William Wright don't know what happened to them but they had son William Mitchell Wright with whom Old William was living at the time of his death in Madison County, Missouri Tabitha, born 1791 William Jr. born 1793 Aquilla born 1795 Isaac born 1800 If anyone has any information about any of these lines we would love to hear from you and connect the dots! Conni Mitchell Braun ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tony and Pat Mitchell" <tpptc@bellsouth.net> To: <MITCHELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2003 7:46 PM Subject: [MITCHELL] Greene County Mitchell's > Connie, > > The Calvin Mitchell in my line was born in Greene County, but around 1900, he and his older brother, William, left Tennessee for Gas City, Indiana, where they are both buried. As far as I can tell, William Mitchell never married. Larkin Mitchell was in Greene County in the 1900 census but disappeared after that, not a clue on him. John, George, and David are buried in Greene County. I think the other brother, Thomas is buried there also, but he is still a mystery. I was hoping that because the names were so much alike in some of the other Mitchell families, some one might make a connection. > James Mitchell who was the father of this bunch of Mitchell's, was married to Martha Stokes. Both of them are buried in Greene County. James Mitchell's father, I think, was Thomas Mitchell who according to the 1880 Greene County census, was married to a lady who was born in Ireland. She may have been a Tucker, but no proof on that either. Thomas was listed as having been born in Virginia. > We need more Mitchell's to take the DNA test, wish some more would. The answers are there, just need some more input. It certainly does not hurt and the idea of finally finding some one to help break down that wall, was enough for me to join. Keep me and my Mitchell's in mind when you are doing your search, I will appreciate any info that comes my way. > > Tony > > > ==== MITCHELL Mailing List ==== > To contact the list administrator, please send a message to: Mitchell-admin@rootsweb.com. >
