Hello, I am looking for parents of my grest grandfather Martin Louis Mitchell Born July 27, 1851 in Arkansas(I think) married Margaret Jane Hildebrand about 1872 in AR ( I think) Had these children by her. 1.Thomas Thadeus Mitchell born July 25, 1875 Union Co, AR 2.Louie Wilmer Mitchell born March 28, 1878 3.Lula Maude Mitchell born December 04, 1883. She is my grandmother. Lula died in March 1909 in Union County,Arkansas. Martin Louis Mitchell & Margaret divorced sometime after that. I have not found a record of this. But it is family knowledge. Margaret Jane lived until April 12, 1945. She never remarried. Martin Louis Mitchell married a second time in Hempstead Co, AR to Mrs. Hattie Golliday, born Abt. 1880, on November 23, 1918. Martin L. Mitchell & Hattie had one son John Mitchell born Abt. 1919. Martin L. Mitchell died about 1940 in Nevada Co, AR. He may have had a brother Thomas Mitchell who mar. his first wife's sister. I would like to learn more about this Mitchell Family. Hello, There is a Mitchell family genealogy on eBay and I thought some of you may be interested in it. It can be found here: <A HREF="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2980&item=2921514593">http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2980&item=2921514593</A> You are bidding on the Descendants of John Mitchell of Drumore Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania - Volume I compiled by Warren A. Brannon. The book is a hardcover first edition that is 637 pages in length. It was published in 1991 by the Gateway Press. In this book, the descendants of John and Mary MITCHELL are traced down to the seventh generation. John died bet Oct 27, 1767 and Nov 18, 1767 in Drumore Twp., Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. His descendants spread from Pennsylvania to Missouri, Ohio, Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, and elsewhere. Unfortunately, the book is unindexed. Owing to the book's length, I will skim the pages and list as many surnames of individuals connected to the Mitchell family tree. Rest assured there are many more families detailed than I will list: ADAMS, ALEXANDER, ANDREWS BAGG, BAKER, BARTON, BAULAS, BECK, BENNETT, BENSON, BLACK, BLISS, BRINSON, BROWN, BRYANT, BUDNIK, BURKHAM, BURMAN CAIN, CAMPBELL, CASTOR, CHAMBERS, CHAPMAN, CHERRY, CHESHIRE, CLARK, COCHRAN, COFFMAN, COLE, CONVERSE, COSBY, COX, CRAIG, CRIBBS, CURTS DAVIS, DIELMAN, DOUGHERTY, DYE EHNI, ELLIOTT, EVINS FARNSWORTH, FINNEY, FULTON GARNER, GARY, GATEWOOD, GEHRMANN, GODLEY, GREGOR HAMILTON, HAND, HANNAN, HARDESTY, HARRIS, HARTUNG, HASELTINE, HECK, HILL, HOLMES, HOPPES, HUFFNER IRVINE JANENSCH, JOHNSON, JONES KEMP, KRENEK LANGHUS, LONG, LUCKEY, LUDLOW, LUSK McBRIDE, McCARTY, McCLELLAN, McCOY, McCULLEY, McCULLOUGH, McFADDEN, McWHORTER, MAGYAR, MICKO, MILLER, MILNE NEEL, NEUBECK, NICHOLS OLIPHANT PICKENS, PIERCE, PORTER RAINEY, RAUH, REED, REINECK, RENTZ, RINEHART, ROAHRIG, ROSS, ROYCE, ROYER, RUNYAN, RYAN, RYLE SANKS, SANTEE, SCOTT, SLOANE, SMITH, SNOW, SPECK, SPONHALTZ, STAPHONIC, STEPHENS, STEVENSON, SWANGER THEAKER, TOUSEY, TSCHOPP VICKREY WAITE, WALKER, WALSTON, WALTOWER, WHEELER, WHITESIDE, WILSON, WRIGHT, WUTZLER, WYATT YAW, YOUNG ZETTY, ZIMMERMAN, ZITZELSBERGER

Shirley, I do not have an other siblings listed with Thomas Hardaway Mitchell. My information came second hand, but I have his father as John Henry Mitchell (son of John Henry) and his mother as Mary ___. Both the father John and Grandfather John seem to be in the Dinwiddie County, Virginia area. I have not spent a great deal of time on this branch of the family until recently, so my information is still in progress. I'll post anything I do find though so that hopefully someone else can make a connection. ~Kerstin ----- Original Message ----- From: <Livedove@aol.com> To: <MITCHELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 02, 2003 11:20 PM Subject: Re: [MITCHELL] Re: My Mitchell Line > Kerstin, > Do you have any siblings of your Thomas Hardaway Mitchell? > I am looking for a John Mitchell, VA., in this time frame > > > Shirley Rosecrans > volunteer; Random Acts Of Genealogical Kindness" > http://www.raogk.org/ > "in helping others, we shall help ourselves, > for whatever good we give out completes the circle > and comes back to us. Hello Everyone, I am a new lister and was wondering if anyone on the list was researching the Mitchell/Mitchel name in Dean or Cockermouth in Cumberland, UK. The name seems to have changed from Mitchel in Dean to Mitchell in Cockermouth in later times. My search began with the will of Robert Barwise of Kirby, Dean in Cumberland and had named in that will Joseph Mitchel and his wife Mary Mitchel (nee Barwise, Barrows) and their children as below... <snip> "First I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Mitchel the wife of Joseph Mitchel the sum of ten pounds, of good and lawful money to be paid six months after my decease, also a chest which was formerly her mothers. Likewise I give and bequeath to Joseph and Robert Mitchel sons of Joseph Mitchel and Susannah Mitchel daughter of Joseph Mitchel aforesaid, the sum of twenty shillings each, to be paid twelve months after my decease." <snip> (The three children mentioned in the will above are Robert Mitchell born at Brigham 1778, Joseph Mitchell born at Brigham 1773 and Susan Mitchell born at Dean in 1772.) I then discovered A Mitchell family on the 1851 census in Cockermouth.. Main Street Jonathon MITCHELL, Head, M, 45, Grocer and Bacon Curer, Dean Mary MITCHELL, Wife, 38, Abbeyholme John MITCHELL, Son, S, 22, Grocer, Embleton Isaac MITCHELL, Son S, 19, Grocer, Embleton Ann MITCHELL, Daur, S,17, Wythrop Harrison MITCHELL, Son, 5, Scholar, Cockermouth Martha MITCHELL, Daur, 2, Cockermouth Mary MITCHELL, Sister,S, 42, Dean Robinson MITCHELL, Brother, S, 29, Auctioneer, Dean Mary HEAD, Serv, 18, house servant, Harrington These people are part of the Mitchell family at Dean, just a later generation.... Jonathon born 1806 was son of Robert Mitchell (born 1778 Brigham) and Ann , (can't find a marriage for the couple). Robert above is mentioned in the will as son of Joseph Mitchel and Mary Barwise(Barrows), Robert Barwise's daughter and son-in-law. There were 7 children, including Jonathon Mitchell 1806, Mary Mitchell 1808 (on the census as sister), Joseph Mitchell 1811, John Mitchell 1813, Isaac Mitchell 1816, Robert Mitchell 1818, Robinson Mitchell 1821, (intriguing must be a Robinson marriage there somewhere, on the census as brother), all registered at Dean. I have found a few of the above family on the 1881 census. Does anyone on the list have an interest in this Mitchell family I would like to hear from you. My website is at and shows some of my name interestsm including Mitchel/Mitchell. http://www.my.cybersoup.com/walkerhomepage Thankyou Christine Keitel
