    3. Hello Mary, I'm not related, but wondered if you have subscribed to the county list where they lived? Have you checked www.switchboard.com for MITCHELLs in MS? A long process, but you look up all the Mitchells in MS or the cities you think they lived in. Buy yourself a calling card and use it to call them. The calling card helps to give you an idea of how much your spending on long distance. It also is sometimes cheaper than the service you may have at home. Do you know the names of your grandfather's siblings? You could go that route. Ask someone who lives in the area to look up in the telephone book the phone numbers for all the Mitchells. I would, but I don't live there. Have you contacted anyone connected to the family of John Doyle Mitchell's mother? What about the family of your grandmother? Join a local historical society or contact them for info. find out if the local papers have a genealogy column and post a query with them. These are just a few suggestions that I hope will help you. 2. MARDELL GITCHEL
    3. Dear Robert, This may be a long shot, but as I am at my wit's end with the Mitchells, I thought that I would give it a try. Do you know the name of William Mitchell's parents? My grandfather Mortimer David was born in Rochester, NY 1862-3. His parents were David and Anora (Neunan) Mitchell. I don't know if Mortimer (he didn't use the name) had any siblings so William could possibly be. 1. Re: [MITCHELL] Re: My Mitchell Line
    2. Reference - Nathaniel, Sterling, Henry - Josiah and other Mitchells - These names are repeated Mitchell names all from the old 96th district of South Carolina. Seems they stem from a Edward Mitchell of the same place. Check also the census for 1790-1800 SC - Henry ofcourse is a common Mitchell name, many by that name settled in GA - Of further interest, there were Mitchell's by these Christian names in Henry County and Dekalb Co GA before 1850. The records I've seen with regard to Sterling or Starling Mitchell, he migrated to GA, that is if it's the same man. All of these seem to be the sons of an Edward Mitchell. A Josiah Mitchell was in Henry Co GA when it was formed in 1821, buying and selling land according to the original books of Henry Co GA. Who he connects to could be a big find, he shows to have been married to a Mary Ann as she was also in the land deed records for Henry Co GA. A Henry Mitchell born about 1778 VA was living in Fayette Co GA (Inman) and also a Henry Mitchell was shown in Dekalb Co GA. Dekalb was part of Henry Co originally, which was ALL of Atlanta GA - Many other counties were taken from Henry Co GA (formed 1821) - At this point, it is my belief that my Hinchey Mitchell (born 1775 VA died 1863c Clayton Co, originally Henry Co GA) was connected to the Josiah and perhaps even both adult Henry Mitchells of whom I have records. Hinchey named his son Henry. There were also those in Clark Co GA in the 1809 Tax Records with my Hinchey named Henry, Thomas, Jonathan and others of whom possibly could be from the same line as the Edward who had Starling, sometimes called Sterling. MaryJean Childress Voegtlin Descendant of - 1Hinchey Mitchell (born 1775 VA) - 2Allen David Mitchell - 3James Thomas Monroe Branch Mitchell - 4Delia Wilmetta Mitchell Kyle (my great grandmother) -
