    3. Yes, Becky, Pleasant is a common name! I had hoped to use it as one of my clues, but, alas, I cannot. It is too common of a first name! Good luck in your hunting! Frankie

    3. Hi Linda, I guess this isn't my line after all. My Pleasant was the son of Evans Mitchell, who was the son of Stephen. Pleasant does seem to be a pretty common name for the time. 3. Pleasant White born 1798 in Washington VA son of Woodson Phillip White and Nancy Love Mitchell. I have found the name Pleasant as a name given many who come from Virginia. While I am not directly related, I understand that there was a large family of Pleasants in Virginia. Many times names of friends became names for children especially when there were many births. Pleasant White in my family was the 8th of 9 children.

    2. Hi Aneita, Becky, and List My Mitchell's moved from Tennessee to Todd, Muhlenberg, McLean Counties in Kentucky. My second great grandfather, Calvin Thomas (Peter) Mitchell was born about 1829 in Tennessee and moved to Muhlenberg County sometime around 1850 and married Mary E. Nanny in 1855 in Butler County. They had three children, Nancy E. Mitchell (about 1855 to ?), Elias Matthew (1857 to 1919), and Missouri Ellen (1864 to 1934). My great grandfather, Elias Matthew who was married to Alice Jane Latham died in 1919 in Todd County and is buried in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Muhlenberg County. My brick wall has been Calvin Thomas who, was called Peter, for quite some time. In the 1860 Muhlenberg County Census he is listed as Peter C. Mitchell and in the 1870 Muhlenberg County Census he is listed as C.T. Mitchell. I was wondering if you might have any information on Calvin Thomas. Any information that you can give me would be appreciated. 3. Yes, I was mistaken about who Elizabeth married--temporarily lost my notes. Here's who I have: Elizabeth Mitchell b.1801 VA married Rev. VA queries--don't remember details} Pleasant Mitchell b. abt 1813 TN m. Sarah Hunt Some if not all of these people moved to Todd Co. KY then to Washington Co. IL If you think you want to know more, I have an e-mail address (2001 so may not be good) for a descendant of this John Mitchell) I also have in notes from Mrs. Eckhardt, reference to the will of Thomas Mitchell of Amelia Co. Matthew is among my Mitchell names as well as Thomas...but then again...I think all of the Mitchell's had children named Thomas and Matthew. At least one of my Mitchell's went to Mclean Co., too. 3. I have found notes from a Mrs. Eckhardt of Houston, Texas written in the 1960's about her Mitchell family from Sumner Co Tennessee in which she believes she is somehow related to your Pleasant Mitchell. She is descended from an Elizabeth Mitchell who married a Hunt. Elizabeth had a brother named Pleasant. They were said to have been born in Virginia. Sumner Co. is the county to the north or Davidson. 3. The dates of the earlier children would be about right, but not if the younger Pleasant was born in TN. My Pleasant was in Granville Co. NC in the 1820 census, but not after that. I assumed he died. But, some of my Mitchell's did end up in Weakley County, Henderson Co., Carroll Co. in TN. The Mitchell's you have are probably related. I still have Charles Mitchell and Evans Mitchell, jr. who are unaccounted for. If you find anything else out, please keep me in mind. Thanks. 3. Hi Aneita, Thanks for answering. I have seen a Pleasant Mitchell listed in some Sumner Co. info, but have never been able to establish whether this was from my Pleasant. I know that most of the counties in TN that I have found my Mitchell's were all close to one another, so the possiblity that the Pleasant and Elizabeth you mention were Pleasant and Rebecca's children. Would you by any chance have any more information on these Mitchell's from the notes you found? 2. Mary, I found Austin Mitchell in Pemiscot Co, Missouri with wife Ara L or Ara L and children Demphsey, Asel, Hazel, and Rosie. All born Mississippi. This has got to be part of your family, right. I have been looking at 1900 Mississippi and have not found William yet. Do you know his wifes name/maiden name? I will keep looking. I am looking for a Mississippi born Mitchell, father of Dan b. 1846. Do not know any siblings or where in Miss, but I am not giving up. Belinda
