ELDRIDGE, 81, 60571 Lennon Road, died Dec. 18, 1992, at his home following a year long illness. He was born Aug. 15, 1911 in Bristol, Ind., a son of Charles B. and Cora (TEASDALE) ELDRIDGE. On Feb. 28, 1946, he married Betty (WHEELER) LAWS, in Chicago, Ill. He had lived in the Sturgis area most of her life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was employed by Sturgis Posture Chair for more than 25 years and later he retired as a carpenter from the Shumaker Company, Sturgis. He was an avid baseball player, participating with several commercial teams and he was invited to try out with the New York Yankees. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife; one son, Air Force Sgt. Stanley ELDRIDGE Jr., Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Cherie BORO, Omaha, Neb., and Sharon ELDRIDGE, Elkhart, Ind.; a grandson, Cpl. Michael A. ELDRIDGE, U.S.M.C., Japan; one step-daughter, Carol Ann JACKSON, Lakewood, Calif.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Manley ELDRIDGE; his parents and four sisters, Elsie SMITH, Inez BORGERT, Mae HILLER and Sarah BURMEISTER. Cremation has taken place. There will be no services or visitation. A private committal will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Cancer Society, the Health Department Hospice or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements were handled by the Eickhoff Funeral Home of Mendon. END
