ELY, 78, whose last home was on Rt. 6, Three Rivers, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Three Rivers Hospital after a critical illness of seven weeks. He was admitted to the hospital on Feb. 17. He had been a Sturgis and Three Rivers area resident all his life. Mr. ELY was born at Howe, Ind., Nov. 11, 1893, a son of Daniel and Mary (LOUDENSLAGER) ELY. He was married in June 1920, to Anna ARMINTROUT, in Sturgis. Mr. ELY was a farmer during his active years and had served with the U.S. Army during World War I. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Lois) RIEB of Montello, Wis., and Mrs. Howard (Jeralyn) ADAMSON of Glendale, Calif.; two sons, John ELY of Calumet City, Ill., and Maynard ELY of Portage; 10 grandchildren and one great-son. Friends are being received at the Foglesong Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Richard Mitchell, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery. END
