KREIDER 78, of 608 Devoshire Drive, Sturgis, Mich., died May 2, 2002, at Thurston Woods Village. He was born May 30, 1923, in Goshen, Ind., a son of Norman and Clara (McCLAIN) KREIDER. He was a lifelong resident of Sturgis and on Jan. 16, 1944,in Sturgis he married Georgia PAPPAS. Lloyd owned Quality Tool and Die for 45 years before selling the business in 1997. He then opened a small engine repair shop and has been employed by Crocker Limited for the past three years. He started showing quarterhorses in 1972 and was associated with Sunnywood Quarterhorse Farm. Lloyd was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He had served in the Navy during World War II for five years, serving on the USS Saratoga which was torpedoed three times, and while the ship was in dry dock, he served on the USS Shipley Bay. He enjoyed showing quarter horses with his daughter, Diana, as well as carpentry, growing mums, fishing and especially his family. The family would like to thank Emily Haller and Elizabeth Lanning for their constant assistance during Lloyd’s illness. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Georgia; one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Rick CAPMAN of Sturgis; one sister, Dorothy SEABOLD of Sturgis; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Mae HORNING and one brother, Norman H. KREIDER Jr. Friends and relatives may call after 2 p.m. today at the Rosenberg-Schipper Funeral Home Ltd. of Sturgis, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Religious services for Lloyd A. KREIDER will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from the First Presbyterian Church of Sturgis, with Rev. Mike Wicks officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the Capt. John J. Kelley V.F.W. #1355. Memorials may be directed to Pet Haven.
