He was born June 6, 1920, in New Madrid, Mo., a son of John and Alice (HICKS) ELLIS. On Feb. 29, 1955, he married Junie MILLER,, in Knox, Ind. He was a LaGrange area resident since 1970, coming from St. Louis, Mo. He was retired from a rope manufacturing company in St. Louis. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Ernistine ELLIS, LaGrange, Mrs. Larry (Alice) SHEPHERD, Rome City, and Salma ELLIS, Orland; one son, Robert ELLIS, LaGrange; six grandchildren; and one brother, Willie ELLIS, Mount Vernon, Ill. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. (Ind.time) Friday at the Frurip-May Funeral Home LaGrange, where services are at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Richard Frederick will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice. END
