Cree Lake, died June 11, 1994, at McCray Memorial Hospital, Kendallville. She had been ill since April. She was born July 15, 1930, in Hazard, Ky., a daughter of General and Rachel (GILBERT) GRAY. On May 27, 1972, she married Richard Wayne ELIJAH, in Brighton, Ind. She was a Kendallville resident since the early 1950s, coming from Hazard. She was employed in the insertion department 10 years at the News-Sun, Kendallville. Surviving are one daughter, Mary HAVILAND, Bronson, Mich.; four sons, Leon PELFREY, LaGrange, Ronnie PELFREY, Homer PELFREY and Dennis PELFREY, all of Sturgis; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary GRAY, Jacksonville, Ark.; three brothers, Oakley GRAY, Scott, General GRAY Jr., Mendon, Ohio and Felix GRAY, Hazard. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Paralee LUNG and Goldie BROCK. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. (Ind.time) today at the Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral Home, Kendallville, where services are at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Bill McKay Kalamazoo, Mich., will officiate. Burial will be in Brighton Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Allen County Oncology Center. END
