EDWARDS, 68, 206 Tuttle Park Drive, died Jan. 4, 1993, at his home after being stricken of an apparent heart attack. He was born April 8, 1924, in Coldwater, a son of Homer and Mable (VORCE) EDWARDS. He married Louise LAKE, in Paw Paw. He was a lifelong resident of the Union City area and he had owned and operated Edwards Marathon Station and Wrecker Service the past 25 years. The station was formerly located on North Broadway until moving to the St. Joseph Street location in 1980. He enjoyed going to auto races and helping with the mechanical work on race cars. Surviving are his wife; two son, George EDWARDS Jr., Union City, and John PHILO, Monroe; six daughters, Linda BAILEY and Jackie HAND, both of Union City, Hazel McWILLIAMS, Rogue River, Ore., JoAnn ALBRIGHT, Longview, Texas, Mary Lou BROMLEY, Kalkaska, and Penny GANGER, Battle Creek; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Don EDWARDS and Homer EDWARDS Jr., both of Union City, and Richard EDWARDS, Burlington; four sisters, Francis JOHNSON, Coldwater, Charlotte CARNSEY, Union City, Mary Ellen CHILDRESS, Arkansas and Carol ADAMS, High Point, N.C. Relatives and friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Putnam Funeral Home, Union City, where services are at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Charles Swartout will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Union City. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice. END
