(KANE) EDGETT, formerly of Colon and Sturgis, Mich., died May 11, 1995, at her home. She was born July 28, 1909, in Colon, a daughter of Dr. Glenn E. and Leila M. (GROVER) GODFREY. In 1936, she married Maurice L. KANE. He died in 1941. She later married James D. EDGETT. He died in 1992. She graduated from Colon High School and received an associates degree from Augubright College, Battle Creek. She worked 35 years for Dr. Bronson and Dr. Sheldon in their medical office in Sturgis. She was a member of the Port Charlotte Pilgrim United Church of Christ and the Ladies Auxiliary Shriners Club, Port Charlotte, and a past matron of the Colon Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 91. During her early life, she lived in Colon, later moving to Sturgis, to Punta Gorda in 1983, and to Port Charlotte in 1992. Surviving are her children, James and Barbara EDGETT, Colon and Punta Gorda, and Richard and Kathy KANE, Greatfall, Va.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Dr. Hugh G. GODFREY. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. May 13, 1995, at the South Port Square Town Hall, Port Charlotte. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Colon. Burial of the cremains will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Colon. Local arrangements were handled by the Schipper Funeral Home, Colon. Memorials may be directed to the Sturgis First United Methodist Church of the charity of one’s choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. END
